Adoption Reference letter

My friend's husband is trying to adopt her son and my DH and I were asked to write a reference/ character letter on behalf of her husband.I can't seem find an outline or example for this particular situation.Have any of you had experience with this situation or have an example. I can only find examples of couples adopting. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    Really should not be much different. Content will probably be the same. I would approach it as if you wanted to describe the husband to someone who had never met him, what would you say? Of course focusing on the type of person he is and also touching on traits specific to fatherhood. You could include a memory or two of your friendship, what stands out about him as a person. Any impact he has had on you. These were some of the things we told our friends who did our reference letters.

    I would look at the examples for couples adopting, and tweak it for this particular situation. Things to include would be how long you've known each of them, what your relationship is (eg, friend vs co-worker), the relationship this woman's DH has with her and her son, etc.
