Grabby hands while nursing

W is abusing me when he nurses. He grabs fistful of my flesh. I have bruses on my sternum. He grabs at my throat and lips and it hurts! So logically I prevented him from doing it by giving him something to hold or I restrain his arm. Well he gets super mad and bites my nipple. Hard! He really doesn't care about a nursing "time out". He just moves on and finds something else to do. I'm starting to dread nursing and I'm sure it's not helping with let down. He doesn't exclusively do it at the start of nursing and he doesn't do it every time. He'll do it anytime during a 20-30 min feed time so I don't know that it's blamed on a slow let down frustration. I feel like I'm feeding a vampire baby. Any tips?

    Totally normal, albeit frustrating.  I often held Logan's hands or swaddled her before nursing.  Some people swear by those nursing necklaces.  Definitely keep his nails trimmed and filed and wear lots of clothing to protect yourself.  This too shall pass.

    I got a nursing necklace from babyhalfoff.com a while ago and it seems to help a bit. I think for my DD this is a passing phase, thank goodness. Hopefully that will be the case for you too, hang in there!

    Nip it in the bud while you can!! It gets more and more annoying and aggressive as thy get older. I cover everything I can and move his hand over and over and say "no I don't like that" and I've been known to swat it away and get mad too. Or hold his hands. Or trap them. It's an awful battle. It's part of why I'm sick of nursing.

    I got a nursing necklace off of Amazon... they also have them at the Cozy Baby Boutique in Woodinville.  However, he cranked on that and hurt me too!  I now just let me hair down, and he'll play with that.  He pulls a bit, but it was better than the claw marks... 

    The biting just officially got scary, though, with that tooth cutting through.  He bit me three times tonight, little bugger.

    Duct tape?! I'm kidding! Gosh I can't remember what I did about this with Connor our how long it lasted but hopefully your little guys moves on from it soon. All I can remember it's telling him no in a stern voice when he bit me.

    OMG I never got to that point because my supply gave out but it makes me angry just thinking about it! I don't think I could handle it- a sincere good luck, and good for you for not just withholding!
