My papa (grandfather) passed away this weekend and assuming this baby is born healthy and will be able to carry on the name, I would love for her to be able to use his name (as a middle name), which was Joseph. Besides Josephine or Jo (the latter of which I'm not crazy about with our likely first name - that I don't want to share), any other female variants of Joseph?
Also, I'm Jewish, therefore to name after him it technically just has to start with J, so any other good middle name J recs would be great too, but I'd really prefer it to be as close to his actual name as possible.
ETA: Our name style is older/tradional/hebrew type names. My twins were Noah and Talia and my son is Judah. Thanks.
Re: Female forms/variations of Joseph?

This is pretty
Jocelyn and Josie come to mind. Other Jo- names: Joelle, Jolene, Johanna...
If you want just a name that starts with "J"...Jillian is my most favorite "J" name
Variations of Jo:
Jolene, Jolena, Joelle, Josie, Josiah, Johanna, Joenalyn, Joni, Jolie, Jolynn, Jolianna, Joeanne, Jody, Joan. . . .
my fav is Joelle.
Maybe Josepha or Josette?
These aren't variations of Joseph, but they fit the "J" bill.

I'm biased to Josephine and we call my girl Josie. I never ever call her Jo, that is my husbands name.
You definitely can get away with Josie as the full name, I wanted to give my girl the option. I also like Joelle and Jocelyn.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Have you thought about Hebrew names rather than a middle name? My favorite Jewish girl J names are...
Jordana (the river)
Jane (gift from G-d)
Jaffe (beautiful)
There's also Josepha, as in Sarah Josepha Hale, author of "Mary Had a Little Lamb."

I had a friend named Josienne (think that's how it was spelled) who went by Josie. I also like Johanna and Joelle, and Josephine (or Josephina) is really quite nice by itself. I like Josie a lot, but think it works better as a nickname-- it's nice for people to have sophisticated, professional-sounding names.
For some reason, I've never been a fan of the "Jo" family of names (Joanne, Jo, etc.), although like I said, I do like Johanna for some reason.
So sorry for your loss, and hope you can find something that you like to honor him with!
Josephina?
Also in the" Bibilical and beginning with J vein"
