What exactly does effaced mean? How soft your cervix is, right? I was 30% last week and was 60% today (as well as 1cm dilated!!) and the OB seemed semi-shocked. My baby is also in the -2 'station'... What the heck does that mean? I totally should've asked at my OB appt but, yeah, I was too dumb to (obviously).
Re: Effaced? "Stations"?
I *believe* that effaced refers to how thinned out your cervix is. Stations refer to the baby's head position relative to your pelvic opening. -3, for example, is very high, and not engaged. -2 means your baby is starting to come down, but is still pretty high. It also has nothing to do with the baby "dropping." +3 is that the baby's head is basically starting to exit your vag. Here's a picture I found that helps illustrate.
