DS has always been a great sleeper. Slept all night very early (sorry). Now that I've returned to work DS (8 months old) is in daycare and he is used to being held/rocked to sleep. Any suggestions other than CIO to help him learn to fall asleep on his own? I can't imagine the DCP having to rock him to sleep ![]()
Re: Napping at daycare question
We used the pick-up/put-down technique (recommended by the Baby Whisperer). So we would put my DD down awake and stay with her. When she started to cry we would pick her up, soothe her and as soon as she stopped crying put her back down. We kept doing this until she fell asleep. Soon after we modified this so we weren't picking her up anymore, but staying with her as she fell asleep. So we would put our hand on her and comfort her, but not pick her up. Now we leave her and she might cry for about 2-5 minutes and is asleep. Sometimes she doesn't cry at all, just 'talks' until she is asleep.
The daycare will figure it out. DD was the same way just for naps at home, so we told the DCP that she could have a boppy in her crib (to feel more secure) for naps or could sleep in the swing.
She still isn't the best napper, but she gets some time in each day.
