One Born Every Minute

I was wondering if anyone else watches this show. Also wondering as I watched it what percentage of the pregnancies they show included unnecessary interventions...
DS1: 8/3/10, DD1: 8/17/13, DD2: 8/13/15
Twins lost to due to partial molar pregnancy: September 2011

  • I've been watching and honestly I'm not crazy about it.  The nurses can be very pushy.

i find the show overwhelmingly entertaining but it's certainly very cringe-worthy.  i feel bad for so many of those mothers because they appear to have no idea what's going on.  i realize it could be editing but come on.  read a book folks.  be your own advocate.  it really shows how common place interventions have become.
  • I watch it and also find it to be very entertaining as opposed to some of the other birth type shows on TLC & Discovery Health. With as large of a hospital as it seems to be and as many births as they probably have there, I'm sure they know what they are doing, so I doubt they have a higher percentage of "unnecessary interventions."
  • I also watch it & enjoy it, most of the time.  I agree that a lot of the couple seem totally green, uninformed about what is going on, & totally ok with handing their birth over to whatever interventions.

I do have to say I feel they painted the natural birth couple with the doula (think it was the 2nd episode) in a very bad light!
