What's so great about the City Mini?

I have a Baby Trend Snap n Go and love it, but it's time for me to get a stroller for DD to sit in.  I've been looking at all different strollers, but it seems like on here, everyone recommends the BJCM!  So, sell me on it, please!  I mainly will be using it for neighborhood walks and at the mall.

I love the crimson/gray one (big Alabama fan here!), but it's on the expensive side, the basket seems very small and it comes with nothing (cupholder, belly bar, carseat adaptor, etc).

What makes it worth it?

  • The 'quick-fold' technology.  It's awesome.  I know it's really geeky but I recorded a video of it if you're interested: https://babymchupie.blogspot.com/2010/12/our-new-video-camera.html

  • The one handed folding is great and it is super lightweight...We live in a second story apartment and I will have no problem hauling it downstairs with baby in one hand and stroller in the other.

The stroller doesn't come with a parent console and the Baby Jogger brand one is $30. If you want to save some money Sunshine Kids makes one for $10 that fits the City Mini.

  • I drive a small car and the City Mini and Bugaboo Bee were the only two strollers that would fit into my trunk.  I'm not a fan of the Bee and think it looks funny.

The fold is awesome, it's super easy to cary and pushes really well on paved roads.  I don't have one yet, but my sister does and she loves it.  She uses her City Mini a TON more than her Bumbleride Indie.

  • You can make a registry on amazon and get 10% off the city mini and use Amazon Mom $10 coupon. I don't have a city mini but just thought I'd give some suggestions on how to get it a little cheaper.

ditto pp on the one-hand fold and the light weight.  Also it handles really smoothly.  The full recline and HUGE sunshade are also big pluses.

What everyone else said, and the sunshade is really awesome! I have never seen such a big one on a stroller before and I love it. I took DS to the mall the other day and it was raining. All these other moms had to cover their kids with blankets or let them get wet and DS was pretty much completely covered by the shade.

  • I practically orgasmed when I folded it in the store on Saturday. Its so freakin easy! That's worth its weight in gold to me. I'm one of those people who cant figure out how to collapse a stroller to save her life. Just today I had a fight with a Maclaren in the parking lot of the mall and I HATE the Graco travel system.

Its also really easy to manuever and its super light.

  • My husband said "Holy Sh!t" in the middle of Buy Buy Baby when we saw how it folded. :)  It is so simple and light as well.

This!  And plus - in the world of fancy strollers, it's NOT horrifically overpriced.

  • If you're done with your snap and go, I don't know why you need a car seat adapter on the CM. If you want to use the car seat, use the snap and go. If you don't, use the CM.
  • We use ours for our travel/umbrella stroller and love it for those functions, especially the sunshade since we typically travel to FL.  The only 2 drawbacks that I have found (when I unfairly compare to my Uppababy Vista) is that the basket is rather small and the brake can be a pain when wearing flip flips, otherwise it's fantastic.

We don't need the carseat adaptor, I'm just saying it's another thing you have to pay extra for.

Mchupie, thanks for the video!  That's awesome!  I think I'm sold.  Now to convince DH... :)
