C-Section recovery question

It's been 13 days since my c-section & my incision is still giving me pain.  It feels like a burn when it gets pulled.  Also the skin above it about an inch or so feels like a really bad sunburn.  Does anyone else feel like this & also does anyone know when this pain is going to fade away?  UghCrying

Re: C-Section recovery question

  • I didn;t have incision pain but I did have the pain above it.. and that pain has gotten better with time.  Does your incision look infected?  I'd call the doc if you are worried

  • Sorry to tell you, but I'm 6 weeks out and still have occasional pain and tenderness around the incision area. My OB said that the internal incisions (through the fat layer and uterus) are higher up than the external skin incision, so that might explain the pain above the cut you can see. Hang in there, though - it does get better!

Ditto all this (except I am 4 weeks).

My OB said they have to tug pretty hard at the fascia (I think that is what she said the layer is) that holds your guts in to make sure that everything is secure.

  • Mine still gives me pain now and then and its been 3 weeks. When I went back to the doctor last week for follow up he reminded me not to do any heavy lifting and I can only lift the baby. I sometimes forget that this was a major sugery. Make sure your not doing too much too soon.

  • I didn't have any incision pain this time around, but I've had some pain around the incision. The Dr. said its very normal for the incision to be numb but the pain to spread to the outer area around the incision. I had some red puffiness above my incision with my last child, and went to the Dr. to have it checked out. It turned out to be nothing but if its very red I'd worry about infection. Give your Dr. a call just to rule it out.

  • I'm 5 weeks out and def still feel some pain now and then. Especially at night when I jump out of bed too quick!
  • I wish I could remember how soon the pain went away after my c/s with Aidan, but I can't. I have noticed that I'm using less and less pain meds, but I still have to use them at least twice a day.

I do remember about 2 or 3 months after the c/s the incision got really itchy. I went, almost crying, to my boss's wife (she works at the same company and we are pretty close) to find out what to do. I used a lot of lotion and that made it feel better.

  • Thanks for all your help, it's nice to know we're not alone.  Mine looks good, I was just wondering when the pain goes away.
