Cloth Diaper Stores in Twin Cities?

I'm thinking about making the switch to CDs and was wondering if there is a CD store in the twin cities?  Any ideas on where I can go to touch/feel/learn what all the options are?

  • I didn't realize you guys used them!  How did you get started?  Did you just buy a bunch of different kinds, or was there one off the bat that you knew would work for you?

  • We used Bum genius 3.0 (there is now 4.0.) We actually never tried them. We wanted something that was one size and I found all rave reviews on these. So we bought 2 sets of them and love them. We do use disposables while out and about but at home we use all cloth.

  • Peapods in St. Paul is a great cloth diaper store; they also sell fuzzibunz at Pacifier. There's also a co-op (the one that used to be in Linden Hills) that sells some.

I was thinking about using cloth diapers while pregnant and my midwife gave me a bunch to try. Jillian's Drawers (online store) sells used ones if you don't want to spend a ton to try different kinds. Hope you find some that work for you.

  • Not sure where you live but in Blaine there is a store called All Things Diapers. They have a website too. We just purchased our first diaper (going to buy them one at a time) for our baby due in July. They are very helpful. I am going to use Flip diapers.
  • Thanks for the info ladies!  The store in Blaine is close to me, I think that will be a good place to start my investigation Wink

  • We haven't purchased any yet, but we did go to a free cloth diaper workshop at Amma Maternity that was pretty helpful. I had done a lot of research, but it was nice for DH to be able to see and hear about all the options. I'm not sure if they have another one coming up or not but it may be worth looking into. Otherwise, the woman who led the workshop runs a Twin Cities area on-line cloth diaper store, Sweet Pickles, and it looks like she does free in-home consultations which could be great!

  • Research, trial, and error.  If you talk to the ladies who cloth diaper all the time, you will notice that there is a trend that they have one type of diaper that they like and have a majority of, and then they have a few randoms sprinkled in to make a full stash. The beauty of cloth diapers is that you are able to sell them if you realize that a certain style doesn't work as well for you.  We, like Carrie (Adamswife) use cloth at home and at daycare, and use disposables when out for a longer period of time.

Let me know what you think of the store in Blaine.  I am a north metro girl as well and have not made it over there yet, so I would love to get your opinion.

  • I can not think of the name at the moment, but there is a place you can order a package of 5 or 10 diapers each a different kind to try a bunch out.

  • We use prefolds and covers here but I order all of my diapers online.  The best thing I did was to take a class to see all my options and then ordered online.  I get my diapers from Green Mountain Diapers and Diaper Junction (both online).
  • We cloth diaper. What worked best for us is I bought ones to try at peapods and pacifier, and then when I found what I liked we ordered online.

     We LOVE LOVE LOVE fuzzibunz.

  • My stash is a combination of new from Peapods (they sell Kissaluv fitteds, Thirstie covers, Bummis covers, Fuzzibunz, BumGenius and Flip. And some wool covers.), used from friends, used from other Bump moms and new from an online vendor.

My favorites are BumGenius AIOs (all in ones), which they actually don't even make anymore. Which stinks!

My second favorite would be BumGenius 4.0s. We really like BGs.

I also just tried a new diaper called a DinkleDooz, which I am going to get a few more of.
