That's the BC that my midwife recommended for me. I definitely don't want pills because they make me crazy (plus I'm BFing) and there's no way we would actually use condoms. If you've had an IUD, what kind did you have and how was it?? Did you have any side effects?? I'm a little nervous about it, but it's covered by my insurance, so I'm thinking it might be the best bet for BC.

Re: Opinions about getting an IUD? / What BC are you using?
After my last child was born (not this one) I discussed and IUD with my doctor and it wasn't right for me. I have very strong period cramps, and he said if you take a popsicle stick in your hand, and then clench it tight- that's what you would feel when you had cramps with an IUD. Women who have strong cramps can feel it and it's 'uncomfortable', which in doctor speak means it hurts. I went with the patch- very low maintenance, replace it once a week, let off one week for your menses, and if you didn't want a period just put on another patch. It was great for me. I can't do pills because I have a terrible memory, but I LOVED the patch. If I had to do BC again I'd go with it.
But I don't need to- DH is getting the snip. That's my BC.
My PP apt is on the 15th and my doctor will talk about BC at that time. I always thought I would want a IUD but now I am highly doubt my husband and I will go that route for 2 reasons. It is 99% effective but one of our friends just got pregnant while using it. They just had a baby in April. I know that was a freak accident (never really happens) but that just scares us both to death. We dont want to try for another one until Jan '13. And the second reason we are not going to get an IUD is b/c a lot of our friends have it in but all there husbands say that they can feel it while having sex and its uncofortable for them. But thats other people's issues with it, doesnt mean you will have those issues. I know we dont want to do the IUD way now.
We are planning for another in about 2 years too. Why does wanting another baby in 2ish years make you not want to get an IUD again??
