for those with 2+ LOs w/ video monitors

Well since this baby is going to be here soon, I guess we better start getting the stuff we'll need.  :)

We have the Summer infant video monitor that pans/zooms etc. for DS.  I'm not ready to give up the camera in his room yet.  Yes, I know I should be but he gets into everything and it's SO nice to just peek at him and make sure he's OK without going in to the room.

I'm googling and it looks like we can buy an extra camera so we can just use one handset.  Is this right?  Is the extra camera all we need or are there more pieces we need to make it work?

    I think that's all you need.  We need to get a new monitor for when this little one gets here, DS' monitor is on it's last leg and I want one that can do both rooms together.  The one you have is one of the ones I'm looking at and from what I understand the extra camera is all you'll need.

    We got an extra camera but still also need a sound monitor in one of the rooms.  The camera system can't monitor both rooms at the same time so while we're sleeping I have the video monitor set to one room and the sound monitor set to the other so I can hear both.  If I hear Claire on the sound monitor, I switch the video over to see what she's doing etc., then switch it back.  The system has worked out well for us.

    Thanks ladies!  Right now we sleep with just the sound monitor on and if we hear him, we turn on the video monitor.  So when the baby is in his crib we'll probably use the video for him and the sound for Scott or some combo like that.  Thanks again!

     I am so glad you posted this. We have that monitor as well and I was wondering how the sound worked with 2 cameras. We do have a regular sound monitor already so I guess we'll just put that in baby 2's room and have that as audio and the camera as the visual. Good tip!

    Dumb question but how do you just get another camera and not the hand held as well? I haven't seen just the camera for sale. I found a new in box one on Craigslist I may buy but I can't figure out how you buy the extra camera?

    Ok, I was able to find it cheap on Diapers.com! Now I just have to hear back from the person on CL who is selling theirs before I order the 2nd camera.
