Group health?

Anyone have group health for their insurance? Can you only go to group health locations for doctors? Can you still go to pediatric associates?

Re: Group health?

  • I had group health insurance and could go to certain providers. The Everett Clinic was right down the street from my house and were approved providers, I'm not sure if every plan was like that, but I had a few options for providers.

  • No, in theory it's really not that different than any other insurance because a lot of places take it but some don't.  The difference is they have their own clinics.  I'm so sad we no longer have it as our insurance since the premium was $400 a month.  I LOVED it.

  • Depends on your particular plan.  There's one called Options that specifically lets patients go to outside providers.  I really like having everything within one network though, and I've only heard good things about GHC pediatricians.  Dr. Nohle is one and he does the teddy bear clinic at Kidsquest if you've ever been to that.  :)

My husband and M are on a different insurance and I hate having to figure out who's covered and bounce from office to office.  I wish M could be on GHC with me but I'm only part-time and it'd be crazy expensive to add her.  :(

  • As said above, it depends on the plan. We have one that we can go to VM if we want, but I love our GH dr.

  • Our company just switched since Premera jacked their prices (again) and I am still so annoyed and nervous but the Options plan covers our PA doctor (Totem Lake) as well as Virginia Mason, so so far no complaints.
  • I have a Group Health plan called Alliant Plus, that allows me to see both GH providers and any other provider I want. The GH providers are cheaper, I only pay co-pays, no deductible at all. For any other provider I have a more standard deductible and out-of-pocket max to meet.

We currently take DD to Dr. Wendy Haas at Bellevue GH (attached to Overlake). We absolutely LOVE her!! I'll be so sad to switch when I quit my job in July and go on my husband's ins. I can't recommend GH enough; I'm really going to miss it.

  • I C&P'd this from the question about the Everett Group Health a few weeks ago

Cambryn saw Dr Froelich too and I really like him! He was very personable and spent time getting to know us. I was very impressed!

As far as primary care, i like Dr. Christopher Covert-Bowlds at the Northshore branch.

Also, I have to say that their Urgent Care is amazing, especially the Bellevue location. DH had severe stomach pain recently and they had him checked in, x-ray and CT done and pain meds on board within 2 hours! That would have taken 10 hours in the ER! They transferred him next door to Overlake for a 2 day stay and emergency appendectomy and he was very well taken care of! And all of it only cost us $100 OOP. Again, VERY impressed!

    Also,

With the plan we have (just Group Heath, not options or any of that) we do have to go to GH facilities. We can get referred out to some pedi's if they are closer to our home but have to have a primary care Dr set up at a GH facility first. I have been very happy with the coverage and care so far! Though, I am only at my job for a few a couple more weeks and will be switching again when I start at the new company...

  • Like pp said it depends on which plan you have who you can see....I have had GH for years and absolutely love it....my docs are amazing and I love that I can email them questions and sometimes avoid having to go in that way...plus all prescriptions get mailed to my house for free.
