Catholic Mommies- what are you giving up for Lent?

I think I'm going to give up dessert altogether. It's going to be tough, but I think I could do it!

  • I'm still debating this. I've considered giving up coffee (then decided this just isn't possible, especially on work days), red wine or dessert. I might actually decide to do something extra, rather than give something up, ie. pick a volunteer activity, promise to do something that I put off every day.

  • I'm not Catholic, but we always gave something up for Lent.  I fell away from it a little as I got older, but in the last few years, have used it to focus more on my spiritual life.

    I'm planning on fasting during daylight hours.  I did it 3 years ago, couldn't do it last year cos I was BFing, then the year before that we were TTC.  I'll use the time I would normally spend eating to read, or pray or journal.

  • I'm giving up playing games on the internet, mainly Facebook games.

    After DS goes to bed, I watch TV and play games.  I could be doing much better things with my time.

    DH and I are both going to work on planning out our meals/dinner during the week.  This is really hard for us with our schedule but maybe it will kickstart us!

  • I am giving up cokes, chocolate and french fries....going to be really tough, but that's the point, right?? LOL
  • I'm giving up Diet Coke (and other pop).  I'm going to try to have more patience with others, especially DH and coworkers.

    And I'm going to say nightly prayers with DS.  I feel like we should have worked this into his bedtime routine already, but 40 days should get us into the habit.

  • Every year I give up soda, sweets, etc. This year I think I'm going to take a different route. I'm going to work on my family. I'm going to give up nagging, being greedy, and being lazy when it comes to cooking/housework, and complaining. I do all that too much and it's taking a toll on my boys and LO. Wish me luck cuz it's going to be  H A R D!!

  • Not sure yet, maybe sweets after 5, Fb or swearing :) these pp were really good though. I do nagg A LOT!!

  • some good ideas on  here! I am on facebook way too much so maybe that although it will be really hard.  I was thinking of giving up being lazy and comitting to work out every day for at least 30 minutes! IDK

  • I'm giving up Facebook except one check a day and sweets after 7:00pm. I spend way to much time on my computer in the evenings when I could be more productive.

  • Sweets for dessert (except for once a week). I still plan on having dessert, but will change it to fruit.
