3rd Trimester

More Braxton Hicks at night?

Why does it seem like the Braxton Hicks are exponentially more frequent at night...and that I have painful contractions only at night? I've basically just embraced a concept of napping this week. I figure it will be that way for quite a while when LO comes so I guess it's not all bad. But gosh, this is painfully sucky :(

What the heck, right? It's 5:30am and I've been up for 2 hours because of major pains. Mine were mostly because LO likes to kick my ass at 3am but I also notice way more menstrual-type pains and backaches at night. Total suckage.

  • I don't know why, but I think the majority of people go into labor over night as well. I've been woken up from BH contractions for the last few nights myself :(

     Not fun.

  • I've read somewhere that the uterus is more responsive to oxytocin at night, and that's why more people go into labor at night.  I'm not sure if that's true but it could explain why you have more BH at night.

I also seem to get more BH when I'm tired and not getting enough sleep.

Mine are absolutely more noticeable at night also.  I have only recently started to feel them during the day.

  • I feel them more at night also. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't help that I get them if I really have to pee. So I'm up going to the bathroom all night, and enjoying a ton of BH while I'm at it.

  • It's the stress of the day... you're bound to feel more at night than during the day when you're active.
