I had my anatomy scan today and everything with LO looked great (and stayed strong on Team Green!). But the dr said I have an anterior placenta (which explains why I'm not really feeling any movement), but also that its really low and close to (but not on top of) my cervix.
On the up side, I get to have another u/s at 28 weeks to see if its moved up at all, so another chance to see LO which is exciting. If it does, then she's not concerned. But if it stays really low, we need to consider c-section so it doesn't get in the way during birth. I DREAD the thought of a c-section and the recovery.
Anyone else learn they have a low placenta, and if so, what did dr tell you about it?
Re: Anatomy scan today - low placenta?
I had my scan last week, and the tech told me the same thing. I have a very low lying, anterior placenta. They did a vaginal u/s just to be sure that I didn't have a placenta previa. She was it was just very low (as is the baby). They told me that sometimes they move upwards, and they would check it again. That's all they told me though . . . .
I'll be sure to ask at my next appointment though bc I definitely want to know if I may end up needing a c-section because of it.
Good luck though, and Keep me posted!

My Dr. said I have the low lying placenta. I had to get a vag. u/s for them to look at it better/measure/confirm. Anyways, they said it is really common and 90% of the time it will move up as the uterus moves up when you get farther along. I too will be having another u/s at 28 weeks to check it. Dr. said if it doesnt move up then just means c-section. There is nothing you can do about it, so try not to worry. I think we all would prefer not to have a c-section, it is what it is. Better to know now then at delivery and freak out. GL!
I had a close one a month ago and it had moved up two weeks ago. You really only need like a 2 centimeter margin I think, and it's VERY likely to move up as you get bigger, since your rising uterus will drag the placenta up with it.
Also, don't sweat too much if you need a C/S. It's not the worst thing ever!
I had my anatomy scan yesterday and was told the same thing. The tech did a vaginal u/s too, to make sure I don't have placenta previa. But then she was able to see it measured 2.6 (inches? cm? who knows) from my cervix, so she said it is fine. I also found out I have an anterior placenta, which really surprised me b/c I feel this baby punching and kicking all day long!
But anyway - the tech said that it often resolves itself on its own as you get farther along.
The tech told me that I had a low lying placenta when I had my appt a few weeks ago. But the Dr. didn't seem to be concerned at all. She said that most of the time it moves up on it's own & said she would keep an eye on it for the duration of my pregnancy, but didn't mention another ultrasound. Since she isn't worried, I'm not going to either...for now.
