I've walked once before, but this is my first year to be a part of (and captain of) a team (Team L.O.V.E.!). We formed a team with our neighbors, who just 6 weeks ago gave birth to angel baby twins at 21 weeks. Obviously, their loss was still very fresh on peoples' minds, and has created a ton of momentum. I am no expert, but here's what we've done so far: we've all sent out emails with our stories (DH and I about C being born a preemie, neighbors about their struggle to get pregnant, and their loss) and about how the work of the MOD impacted us. We all put our team logo that we designed as our profile pics on facebook, and post probably once a week or so about the walk, asking our friends to join us or donate. We have raised $1600 so far, and have 16 walkers signed up on our team (and a few people doing walks in different cities as "part" of our team as well).
I've been amazed at how it's grown...we were honestly only thinking we'd raise a few hundred dollars! Good luck Team Scarlette!!!
This will be my third year walking with my bedrest friends from the hospital. The larger teams have t-shirts made with photos or graphics. The color for MofD is lavender, so even if you wear lavender for the day it is good. Everyone brings their babies, kids, teenager it is a wonderful, life affirming event! It helps with the healing
Send out e-mails to your friends, ask your co-workers, etc. Tell your story! I tell my story about being a 3rd generation pre-e survivor and I walk so that research will hopefully find a cure and spare my daughter from being a 4th generation have pre-e during a pregnancy.
This will be my second year as captain of team Three Cheers for Babies. Last year was awesome - we were lucky enough to have tons of friends and family join us and raise money. I think we had over 30 people walking on our team and we raised almost $7,000! I kept the team members updated on things - start time, sign in, where to meet the day of, etc - by group emails and I had team t-shirts made up for everyone who walked. I also sent emails to all my friends, family, Facebook contacts, etc. letting them know about the walk and why we were doing it, and I created an event page on Facebook. I also had thank you notes with Charlie and Lily's picture on them made up after the walk and made sure I sent one to every person who walked or donated. Unfortunately it rained on our walk last year and we had to do an abbreviated version indoors, so I can't speak much on what a typical walk is like, but I'm hoping for sunshine this year!

Thanks for the input- I am so excited- I announced our walk today and we're already only $25 away from our goal! I had no idea people would be so involved! I think it will be so fun and I am so excited to do something positive in the midst of all this. Today was our 120th day in the NICU.
