Hi T___,

We appreciate you sending your comments.  I will say we were surprised by your feedback.  You received our traditional butter cream.  This is the same hand made batch that went out with all of our orders.  This is the first complaint that we have received.  As far as the cake, you received our signature white cake.  White cake traditionally has a light flavor.  Again, this is the first complaint that we have ever received on our white cake.  I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations.  The only thing we could think of was the temperature of the cake.  The cake is served best at room temperature.  If it was served directly after being removed from the refrigerator, the frosting may have been firmer and the cake less moist.  We are, however happy to hear that you liked the design.  Thanks again for your feedback.

Huh?

Yeah, that is a pretty weak response.  Customer service fail.

  • Wow, I cannot believe that response. Terrible customer service. Who is Nicole? The owner or an employee? Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"? My dad is a restaurant owner and whenever he receives any type of complaint he always responds professionally no matter how he feels his service/food was. I just can't believe this! Are you going to respond?

  • If the cake was as underwhelming as her response, I'm not surprised it was terrible.  Seriously?

Honestly, I'm at a loss for words (yes, ME!). I don't even know how to respond. It's not as though I necessarily expected a refund or anything; but I think I did expect to receive, at very least, a [somewhat] apologetic response.

Exactly. She might as well have said, "you're wrong. tough luck."

Honestly. I'm KICKING myself for not going with my gut and canceling my order with APFS and going with Tres Belle, last minute, when Tracy returned my call and said she could do it. Lesson learned.

  • You could always order a cake from Tracy just for fun.  :)  Yuuuuummmmmm!

Oh, don't worry, she is.  I've taught her well.  She's just mentally makin notes that her MIL won't be in charge of the cake at the wedding, that's for sure.

  • Wow, really?  I can't believe she pretty much said it's all your fault it tasted bad.  Apparently nothing is anybody's fault though anymore. I love cake straight out of the fridge from the bakery I use better than at room temp!

I totally agree with ordering something yummy to make up for the sub-par cake and crappy response.

I know, right? The best part is, DH picked the cake up at 1:15, and we didn't serve it until around 7:30PM. It sat out (at room temp) for over 6 hours, so it certainly wasn't straight out of the refrigerator as she assumed/implied. Whatevs.

I just might! Now I can't stop thinking about baked goods. Big Smile

    Hilar!

  • What a crappy response! Like PP said, even if she didn't think there was something wrong, she should have apologized.

At my baby shower there was a problem with the cake. Not from this bakery. It was inedible.  One of the ingredients must have been bad or something because you seriously couldn't even eat a bite.  My SIL took it back to the bakery to get her money back and the owner wouldn't even listen to her complaint.  She just handed her money back and didn't even say sorry.

  • wow. thats sucky customer service at its best =/ now that ive changed my mind about going with them...tell me about tres belle bakery. where is it and what are the prices compared to ASFS? i was going to spend 65

Tracy works out of her home (or, at least, that's where we picked up J's cake, last year). Super YUM...and, CLEARLY, I'm hard to please. Confused

To be honest, the prices were about the same. If I remember correctly, we got an 8" round + a smash cake (both decorated with fondant cut-outs) for $55. Obviously, that was last year, so I'm not sure if her prices have gone up at all. When she called me, Wednesday, we didn't talk price. By that time, I had already ordered through ASFS and I felt bad about canceling on ASFS...my mistake.

ETA: duh, you asked about location. She lives near Xavier, off Dana.

  • If it were me, I would call and ask to speak to an owner/manager. That's a lame response. Do you have any cake left?

Part of me feels compelled to do so; however, more than part of me is just over it. It's a small bakery, so, sadly, I'm almost positive that Nicole is one of the (if not THE sole) owners.

Yes, we have almost half a cake left. If my ILs leave before Friday, I'll have you all over to gag on it.

  • Ha! I'll pass on the gross cake! I was just thinking you might offer to bring it back and ask them to have a taste and see if they think it's just you or if something is seriously wrong. Watch them gag on it, lol!

Also, now I am so glad I used Lisa's instead of them!

My thoughts exactly.  However, I'd just bring it in and ask them to taste it.  I don't think it warrants a warning.  Crappy customer service = lost future busines..

It's definitely a great idea. I'd do it in a second if the bakery wasn't almost a half hour drive from our house. I don't want to lose more money to gain nothing in return. KWIM?

  • I told ya you should have called me.... Wink

I think this warrants a trip to Sugar.  Did you know that Summit Meats on 8 Mile carries Bonbonerie?  I saw it advertised on their sign....just sayin....
