Are cold medicines safe with Bfing?

I have a cold and was wondering if anyone knows what is safe to take while BFing?  I can't seem to find a straight answer online, except that maybe nyquil is bad because it affects your supply.  At the very least, can I take tylenol for the achiness?

  • To be honest, nothing is.  I'm in the same boat.  I went to the pharmacist Friday and asked what I can take for a head cold (I started getting it there that day), she said there isn't anything.  As far as a chest cold (which is where mine started, then went to my head) she said I can take Delsym (which helps with just the cough) or Robitussin DM.  The thing with Robitussin she said is that you can take it, but it gets in to your milk.  You can take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for the ache's.

  • I just loaded up on Vitamin C. It helped prevent my cold from getting too bad, but if yours is already at the point of no return it probably won't help much. :(  Feel better!
