My maiden name is Benjamin and we'd always planned on using it as a middle name for a boy. We're expecting #2 and plan on using Alice as our girl's name, but can't come up with a middle name. Are there any female versions of "Benjamin" that would be appropriate? I only want to use something significant or family-related as a middle name.
TIA!
ETA: I suggested "Bea" to DH ... as in "B." ... but he nixed it. ![]()

Since it is your maiden name you could use it as a MN, people will assume that when they see her name written Alice Benjamin Lastname.
my DD's mn is my maiden name spelled in the original masculine form Ren?.
It seems like you'd really need to be FOR having a masculine name in there. But making it feminine takes away from the significance of your name.
Benjamine (pronounced ben-jah-meen in English, but bahn-zhah-meen in its native French) is a legitimate feminine form of Benjamin. I've never heard it outside of France, but I've met a Benjamine and a Marie-Benjamine there.
That said, I don't think there is anything wrong with naming her Alice Benjamin. It is not at all uncommon for a family surname or maiden name to be given as a middle name for boys or girls. I certainly wouldn't think twice, I would just assume it was a familial surname.
