Parenting after 35

Update

So, I am out of the hospital. YAY! I am embarrassed to admit this because I fear being flamed for it but I kind of left before they were ready to let me go. I didn't "bust out" or anything Bonnie&Clyde-ish. I just told them I really was ready to go. The doctor finally gave in provided that I get yet another cat scan this week, which I will most definitely do.

The food was just horrible, I miss my sweet child, and I wanted to be in my own bed. In addition to that, my white blood cell count is once again normal so I thought it was very reasonable to expect to go home. The meds they were giving me were making me more sick in some ways ("oh your potassium levels are high. drink this" then diarrhea follows suit, etc). They still don't know what's wrong. The reason for the follow up scan is because my lymph nodes are swollen which very well could be because of the pneumonia.

As far as DH, we kind of aren't speaking right now. I am sure we will work through it eventually. I just need to sit on this a while. I'm angry and don't make the best decisions in this state.

Thank you all for your prayers and support. I really appreciate you all!

I think you are smart to let things calm down before talking to your DH.  I am the same way - I make really bad decisions when I am emotional or sick or both.

While it is great you are not in the hospital anymore I am worried about you (no flames just love).  Let us know how the cat scan goes and anything else they discover.

Are you feeling better? Are you getting any help around the house?  Are you going back to work or are you going to rest?

Sending lots of love and thoughts your way. Praying you get to the source of your illness and get better. You are loved by many, sweet Jen!

  • No flames whatsoever. As long as the doc was cool with you going then I'm all for it.

I am concerned about you and John not speaking though. Is your mom still there so she can look after you as well as Jace? I wouldn't want you to over do it.

I'm so worried about you, Jen but trust you're home and relaxing with Jace now.

  • I'm so happy you're heading home (as long as you didn't slip on a mustache and dark glasses and slip out the back door!).  You'll feel so much better relaxing at home with your sweet little boy.  Hope things get better with DH too.  Men can be such dopes sometimes!  Feel better!

  • Take the time to heal and follow up with your doctor.  You and John will work things out when the time is right.  I make terrible decisions when I am tired and emotional, so I agree that sitting with it is a good way to go...but not for too long!  Take care and keep us updated.  You have my number.

This.  I just got caught up!  I am so sorry to hear you are sick!  I wish I could be there with you.  John is getting a virtual butt kicking for taking off, btw.  I hope your mom is taking good care of you and you find out what's going on!  Feel better!  Miss you bunches!!!  XOXO

  • Promise us that you will take it easy. As far as you and your DH, I think it is wise not to talk until you are a little calmer. And feeling 100%. He needs to hear you out and really make some changes. Hugs. Keep us posted.

  • I just read your other posts and got all caught up. I'm sorry your husband is so obviously absorbed in the sports. I agree with a lot of previous posters. 4 sports is way too much for one kid. I was always restricted to 1 sport and 1 after school activity at the same time. I could do soccer and softball as long as I only did fall soccer and spring softball. That's just too much to do and still keep up with school and have family time as well.

Waiting to talk it over with your DH when you are feeling better and less angry/hurt/upset is best. I really hope he is willing to listen and come to some kind of compromise with you.

  • I'm glad you're home, and I hope they figure out what's wrong!  I agree, it's good to calm down before talking anything over with your DH.  Much love!

  • Not flaming you & I hope I don't get flamed for what I am going to say but pnuemonia isn't something to take lightly.  I get nervouse hearing anyone has it because I used to work with a woman who died from it. She was in her 60's and full of such life.  I know it's most dangerous for seniors & babies & those who don't have a good immune system. PLEASE take care of yourself.

  • Hugs. Glad you get to go home. Take care of yourself. You have that little man to take care of and you need to be healthy for that. Concentrate on that and hopefully you will be able to communicate with your dh in time :)

  • Glad to hear your at home.  It's amazing what your own bed and the snuggles from your LO can do for recovery.  Good luck with the cat scan this week.

It's a good thing to wait until you're a bit calmer before engaging DH in a discussion.  Thoughts and prayers are still coming your way.  Both for health and your talk with DH.

  • OMG!  Jen!  I am SO sorry you are going through this ... I just happen to be on TB for the first time in a seriously loooong time and saw what you were going through.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery.  {{{HUGS}}}
