My fiance and I have been ttc since Nov. This month, my period was due yesterday....nothing. Today, I woke up (still nothing) and took a test....it was negative. Then at around 10 am, what I thought was my period had started. I sadly inserted a tampon and went about my day.
Around 4 pm, I went to the bathroom to change it, but when I did, there was nothing on it...just the lightest brown spot of blood. I'm so confused. From what I've read, it's almost too late for implantation bleeding, but since my test is negative...I don't know what to think anymore. Any advice, opinions, or thoughts on this topic? Sometimes hearing from others helps with the ttc questions and stress! Thanks!
Re: Neg Test Confusion
How do you know your period is due? Do you chart? Do you actually know when you ovulated? Because unless you actually Know when you ovulated you actually have no idea when your period is "due".
If you took a test and it was negative, you're not pregnant. If you don't chart check out Fertilityfriend.com
This needs to be a sticky at the top of the page.
Oh, wait. [url=https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/42877040.aspx]Link[url]
Yes, I've been charting since we first started ttc, so I know when my period is "due." I also know when I was supposed to ovulate, however, we are not yet using ovulation predictor kits or BBT, (I have been relying on the charting tools and CM to determine it.)
I understand the basics of TTC, my question was more about what the bleeding could be if it's not my period and if anyone else had experienced implantation bleeding this late. (Since I have no flow to speak of and a negative pregnancy test.) I do appreciate your recommendation of the website though. Thank you for your response.
Well, let's see, it could still be implantation bleeding. I had what they officially termed "implantation bleeding" at 7 weeks.
Also, fwiw I had two negative tests before I got my positive, but I was taking a charting break that month and my cycles are all over the place, so I had no idea when I was actually due.
Charting requires a BBT so that you can chart your waking temperature. If you aren't charting temps, then what are you charting?
Wait, is taht BBT as in Basal Body Temp or Basal Body Thermometer? I assumed it was the thermometer, and I mean, I just used a regular digital one to temp. But if there's no temping going on, then I concur with what GC said, you can't confirm you ovulated just by cm and cervical position.
I appreciate the thoughts. There is still a lot to learn, BBT charting is the next step for us but it's a challenge because I know you're supposed to do it at the same time each day and when I wake up each day varies according to my work schedules.
I appreciate the helpful response...everyone is different, time will tell.
I guess I incorrectly used the term "charting." I am NOT charting my basal body temperature yet, that is going to be our next step if I am in fact, not pregnant this cycle.
What I meant, was that I am using a site to help keep track of my cycle. Since we have not charted my temps, I understand that I do not know the EXACT date of ovulation, However...I know from my cycles and CM the general time frame of when I was ovulating.(and that we have been doing what we need to do during that time frame)
I didn't mean to come off as uninformed, it was just a communication.
I think I am confused as to why someone asks for help, but didn't actually want help....
And yes, you can "chart" taking notice of your cervical position, cervical mucous, etc, BUT it's not as accurate as taking your temp everyday. I had to do this w/CBEFM to get pregnant b/c I work crazy hours & charting a temp wasn't working well...
I still don't understand what you're charting though.
ETA: Nevermind, I just read your last response. So basically you're charting when your period starts & looking at the middle number? I know you say you're "informed," but you're not making any sense. If you were informed, you would know that this is NOT a way to "chart."

That only goes so far. NO ONE can accurately ascertain when they ovulate without charting her basal body temperature. Period.
If your period does not show up for another month, call your Gyn. Other than that, go buy dollar store tests so you aren't wasting $10-$20 a pop on FRER tests.
No, you don't. Case in point: I get EWCM at 8-10ish days AFTER ovulation every single cycle. If I were only monitoring CM, I would be WAY off in when we were timing sex.
I didn't come to a board to be attacked. I DO appreciate the helpfulness and the responses.
I used a term incorrectly, I'm sorry that I'm not perfect. I made a mistake. I'm still learning. Please do not attack me for that.
Again, I have not charted BBT, I know that this is how you determine when ovulation actually occurred. I also know that there are other ways (like you listed above and that I mentioned) to HELP determine when ovulation should occur. I realize that these are not guaranteed proof that ovulation occurred.
So now that we all know that I made a mistake in the use of the word "charting"....and that I'm rather just tracking my cycles, does anyone have any experiences or helpful comments as to what the spotting could have been?
Who attacked you?
The spotting could be anything. I've spotted tons throughout my life. Twice I was pregnant. The rest of the time I wasn't and most of the time, it was impossible to pinpoint the cause.
Exactly this. No one "attacked" you. We were confused, as were you.
And I've spotted TONS in my life. Pregnant & not pregnant in several cases. Your body does wacky things...

Clearly you misunderstand the word "attacked," as well.
The post by Bensbabe above made me feel attacked. This was the first time I've posted to a message board about ttc. I didn't even mean to post it here ( I re-posted to a different board right after this, but the site wouldn't let me delete this post.) For those of you who answered with helpful comments, thank you. Hearing about the experiences of others is comforting and informative, even though each person is different and there is no telling what might be true for me and my body.
To insinuate that I'm uninformed based on my misuse of a word is a tad harsh. I am new at TTC but my fiance and I have wanted a baby for years, we are finally at a place in our lives when we are comfortable starting a family. I do not know everything yet, however, I am well informed. I've spoken with my doctor and I spend a lot of time reading so that I can learn more to give us the best chance of success with TTC and then a healthy pregnancy. Instead of searching for a post similar to mine, I decided to give it a go and see if anyone could help me out.
I'm sorry that I made a mistake and that therefore, my post was misunderstood. I didn't mean to offend anyone by coming off as someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Have a nice day ladies.
Not a helpful response, at all. I chose the word attacked to describe how I felt based on the comments I read. I am NOT misinformed, I made a mistake. It was hurtful to hear someone use words that insinuated I didn't know what I was talking about.
I didn't come in looking for an argument, just some helpful advice. Have a nice day.
