Must have toys for a 4yo?

My cousin's son is turning 4 next month and I'd like to get him a cool new gift but I'm not up on the latest 4yo boy trends as my boy isn't even 2 yet :p 

Can anyone recommend some cool gifts a 4yo might like, in the $25-$40 range?

    my son is four and LOVES the following toys:

     Camera

     Night Vision Goggles

     Kaleido Gears

     Lincoln Logs

     Zoob

     Krinkles

    these are pretty much the toys he plays with daily lately. he seems to have grown out of his character toys (especially thomas the tank engine). although if your nephew is still into Thomas toys, this carrying case is excellent! it doubles as a track and a carrying case for more than a dozen trains. my son has had it for 3 years and used to take it everywhere. it has a handle and he can lift it well.

    also, all the boys that age in my family got monogrammed sleeping bags for christmas from me. BIG hit! i got them at LL Bean. slightly over your price range, but good quality and something he's not soon to outgrow.

    DS will be 4 in a week and half :(  He is into transformers, guns (as much as I hate this.  He takes Trio blocks and makes guns out of them), race cars still (he likes the different tracks), Legos, binoculars, camera, monster trucks

    if he's an adventurous soul, that scooter might be great! my son has a scooter and it's not really his thing - balancing is hard for him (though i'm sure, like with everything, he'd be much better with practice). however, his bff LOVES his scooter and used it frequently until he got a balance bike like this one.
