Add me to the bed rest mommies...

It's official.  The doctor put me on bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy.  I have been stuggling with hypertension and what I can only describe as extreme swelling.  The doctor even told me that my swelling is "impressive."  I haven't spilled protein into my urine yet, but the doctor seems to think it will only be a matter of time.  I am praying for that to not happen.  Pretty bummed about leaving my kiddos.  (I'm a preschool teacher.)  They have been so invested in this pregnancy.  I will miss the daily "Hi, baby"  comments and baby hugs they give me everyday!  But, better safe than sorry and I would never forgive myself if anything happened to the baby.  So for now it's time to put my feet up and keep that baby safely in my tummy.

Anyone else on bed rest with any ideas to keep themselves occupied.  I'm afraid I'm going to be bored in about 2 seconds flat.  I am a go, go, go, type of person.

  • That sucks. A lot. Sorry Katie. Can you imagine if it were August here though? We would be blowing up like a hot air balloon.

When I was on bedrest I crocheted, watched movies/tv, and played on the internet. Do you do any crafty stuff? I was able to find a whole bunch of ideas for the nursery and start working on them.

I can't remember but are you having a boy or a girl?

  • I'm having a girl.  I'm thinking about trying my hand at bow making and maybe making a bow holder...  I crochet too.  So I may try and make a blanket or something.  And yes, August would be horrible.  It just gets so hot and humid here.  I'm hoping it stays nice here until we have our May LO's.  Keep it in the 70's and I would be one happy camper.  But it is STL.  It will probably be 90 by April 1st.  He he.

Yeah no kidding. I think May is pretty much the best time of year to have a baby. April would work too.

  • So sorry for you and all the other bedrest mommas. I myself am not on bedrest but I think that if I was I would do a LOT of reading and find some sort of craft projects to work on. I would also catch up on my scrapbooking and probably make a ton of to-do lists for DH!
