Babies: 0 - 3 Months

DH is addicted to his iPhone 4

He literally can't even give the baby a bottle without playing some game on his phone with the other hand. When DS is awake, (which is rare) I try to encourage DH to hold him, talk to him, etc. But even then, he's got the phone in one hand and not really paying attention to DS.

Aside from flat out saying, "you are not allowed to play video games while holding your son" what the heck am I supposed to do to encourage a little more interaction between DH & DS, and more importantly, get that damned phone out of his hands?

  • Um, I can't really blame him. I was guilty of watching Tosh.0 and checking FB while feeding Ellie when she was that young.

  • LOL my DH is the same! I was in labor and he was sitting in the corner in the "daddy's chair" playing with his iPhone.... There is a Silence all button on the upper left hand side, if you flip it to that, he will not be able to even hear the vibrate. Do that then Hide the DANG thing! They are addictive but I do not think mine is so great that I have to be on it all the time. DH is so bad that he is on it if we go out to eat, or if we are hanging out with the kids. It annoys me so bad!

I'm guilty of sneaking in a few rounds of Bejeweled Blitz while BFing, but every single time he has the baby in his arms, he's got some video game on. It seems somewhat unfair to the baby...idk.

  • DH doesn't do that crap but I'd say he's pretty addicted, always checking game scores, emails, has baby entertainment apps, etc. He convinced me that it's the best thing ever bc he has a baby monitor app on there but needs to use my phone for it to actually work. Anywho, he brings it to bed with us and that annoys me. So a few weeks ago, when he was sleeping, I took it out of his hands carefully and placed it under the heater, in hopes that the heat would damage it. The next morning he was hysterically looking for it, and used the house phone to call it. Since the heater is next to his side of the bed, he convinced himself that it fell in the middle of the night even though it's weird that it would fall there. I didn't say a thing bc I was mad that nothing happened to the said phone, it works perfectly :(
  • I'm posting from my iPhone right now, while nursing dd, so I'm not much help...

  • My DH is always playing Pocket God on his. I nab it every once in a while, but he is obsessed.

Totally not fair- he just got a new car last month, and a new iPhone this week. My van is 5yrs old and I have a 2yr old phone. I just had his 3rd baby, where the heck is my thanks!! Why does he get all the good stuff and I have the old crappy stuff??
