Favorite North Carolina beaches?

I think we've narrowed our vacation destination to NC. It's an easier drive than most beaches and the prices seem to be affordable in Ocean Isle -- where I've been looking most recently. Does anyone have any other recommendations for NC while I'm still looking?

I really like Holden beach. Its a pretty nice beach. Def good for families.

Ocean Isle is by far our favorite vacation spot within the US. Loved it!!

We love Emerald Isle - it's small, quaint and family oriented. There are hardly any high rises - so the beaches are not crowded.

We love Wrightsville Beach. Very quiet, beautiful beaches, great waves. They have awesome restaurants and it is fairly close to the aquarium.

We LOVE Ocean Isle!!!!

Seriously, affordable prices, close enough to Myrtle if you want to do the tourist thing, and lots of options for restaurants.

We always vacation on Hatteras Island. We love the laid back, mom and pop atmosphere. We are also into water sports and surf fishing. We get a house on the sound...right up on the water, for less than a condo in Florida. We kayak, fish, shell hunt, windsurf, and lay on the beach. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is a MUST there. We just drive onto the beach and set up for the day. Then we come home, get cleaned up and head out for dinner or grill out on the deck. No bars, no loud parties, just laid back relaxation. I cannot wait for JUNE!
