We have a carseat that is basically the carrier which snaps into the base. We will check the carrier ans troller at the gate, but what the heck do we do with the carseat base (we have to bring that with us). Do we check it? I dont want ti to get lost or damaged...

Why do you have to bring it? You can use the seat with the vehicle buckle. If it's imperative that you have it, I guess I'd gate-check it in some sort of bag.

Actually, I was going to say that I stopped using mine with the base when Ethan was like, a week old. I HATED the base. I felt like it made the car seat too tippy. Its much easier to just use the seat belt.
