Whew...what a relief my baby isn't deformed

Oh MIL...she hadn't seen C recently, just in pictures, and we went over last night while SIL is home on Spring Break. Apparently some of C's recent pictures are not so flattering (the swimsuit one, I guess, in particular) since comments included "she's not as fat as I thought," "she's littler than I thought," "I was like 'is she deformed in the legs?'" and "it looked like she had elephantiasis" (of the legs.) So I guess she's cuter in person, but still...ouch. I know she didn't mean anything bad by them, but it still hurt my feelings. I know every mom thinks their baby is beautiful so when it comes out like she's not in her pictures it kinda made me feel like that mom with the ugly baby who is oblivious to it. Am I just oversensitive?

Sigh. I think C has been cursed with my horrible fat thighs already. Of course, later on MIL brought up having C model for pictures because she thinks she's cute, but it seems like she'd be a bad model since I guess the camera is making her look deformed and huge.

some people really don't know when to shut up! My MIL has the same issue. I'm TRYING to learn to ignore her. My LO isn't even born yet and she says stuff that just sets the mama bear in me off!!

I think your MIL is high because everytime I see pics of C I think "gosh she is such a cutie!" and I would NOT say that unless I really meant it! She is adorable and I've only seen pics!

Elephantiasis? Is the woman crazy? Not one of your photo's of C make her look deformed. Your MIL needs glasses, or a new prescription if she already wears some.

This exactly. What is wrong with that woman? Charlie is adorable and love those chunky thighs of hers. In fact, I wish B's were a bit chunkier!

OMG. Girl, you've got one of the cutest little babies ever. Seriously. I think Charlie is absolutely adorable, and maybe I'm biased because I love all my Bumpies and their beautiful Bumpie Babies, but I never thought that looking at any of her pictures!

And fwiw, DH calls Livy's legs "little ham hocks". She got mommy's nose, cheeks and thighs. Poor kid is doomed.

Thanks...I know all that matters is that DH and I love her and think she's beautiful but it still seemed so weird to say that sort of stuff! I wasn't fishing for compliments, I'd like to think the nice pic comments we get on Fbook are accurate! Seattle Bumpie babies are ALL cute- must be somethin in the water because there's not a one that's not freaking adorable as hell.

I do hope her legs de-chunk a bit when she starts to walk, though...yeah, I'm vain for her like that.

I'm late getting to this, but I wanted to add another vote for Charlie being super adorable! I especially love the swimsuit pic, in fact!! I think your MIL is just nuts.

I kind of expect comments like these from my MIL. After my wedding, while looking at wedding pictures, she said she didn't like my wedding dress, thought it didn't flatter me and she could have made a much nicer dress. WTF? You don't get to voice an opinion on such things. I told DH she will probably also be someone who tells people she thinks their baby is ugly.

Um ok? Don't they see that Charlie is like one of the cutest baby girls ever!!!

But everyone has an opinion, trust me. If I hear about how BIG Tristen is one more time I might flip my lid. He's average like literally, he's in the 60%! My IL's are the same way, but they have stopped saying things like that to me now that the other grand child is still off the charts at 3.
