Hi Ladies! I've started to feel some twinges (not painful, just a little startling/annoying) in my lower abs/pelvic area. Could this be round ligament pain? What does it feel like for those of you who have had it?
on the sides of your ute. This is my second pregnancy and for some reason I don't remember having them this bad with my first. Some of them take my breath away. Others just feel like a little cramp.
My round ligament pain is like being stabbed in the belly with a knife. (or so I imagine, I've never actually been stabbed in the belly with a knife) more like tearing a muscle in two. I've been able to compare it to 'charlie horses' - you know the one your woken up in the middle of the night because it hurts to move your leg. It's not fun, and on more than one occasion (especially with this baby) I've 'yelped' in pain uncontrollably. But for the post part it's enough to make me stop and try to rub it out...

That's EXACTLY what I was feeling and I went into my doctor for him to check on it and see what it was. I ended up having to have an "FFN" test done to make sure my cervix wasn't thinning/shortening. I'm just feeling round ligament pain now. My cervix is fine. You might want to call just to see what they want you to do. They might want to check on it. Don't panic... I'd just call to let them know what you're feeling.
I agree to the being stabbed comment above. Basically it can happen at any time and to any degree of pain but it has happened the worse when I would sit up quick to get out of bed and the second I stood, I would cripple over in pain in my uterus. As if I just got stabbed there.. it was the worst weeks 8-12 for me.. Good luck to you!

This exactly! after dinner last night, i got them really suddenly. It hurt so bad it brought tears to my eyes.
Thanks everyone! The comment about "feeling like you've been stabbed in the vagina" really hit home! That is where the sensation has been, though fortunately, it hasn't been bad enough to bring me to tears (knock on wood!). I'm glad to hear this is a normal thing, and will be sure to tell my OB what's happening when I see her in a few days. Thanks for your help and support...it is so comforting to share our experiences together!!!
It's not as dramatic as being "stabbed" but it's definitely a sharp pain. I feel it when I lift my leg to get in the car or onto bed. It's gotten better, and to get out of bed you have to roll onto your hip and push yourself up with your arms.
It's like a charlie horse in the lower abdomen area.
perfect way to describe it.
Agreed. It's like the worst cramp you've ever had. I mostly get it if I don't turn over carefully and slowly enough in bed. More than a couple of times I've yelped out in pain when I moved wrong while trying to turn over.

Have you ever gone running and run out of breath and got a cramp like right underneath your ribs? People have called it a "stitch". That's what it feels like but in your pelvic area! Mine are very quick pains and go away very fast.
