Anyone participate in Lent??

I'm trying to narrow down what I want to do for lent.  Just wondering what others are doing this year?

My choices are:
1. 30 minutes on computer a day
2. no desserts or candy
3. workout during naptime- which means manage my time better and no vegging out on the couch during this time.

I've been considering it.  I think the 30 minutes on the computer a day is a great one.  It would be hard for me, but DH would be astounded.

  • Yes. (We're Catholic.) I always give up desserts and candy. Although, there are 2 exceptions to this: DH's birthday and his grandma's birthday. We do allow ourselves a treat for those days.

I also plan on going to the Stations of the Cross at church on Fridays, which is followed by Mass. I am using the little black devotional book distributed by our church. I also want to focus on saying prayers daily with J.

  • I like the giving up candy and desserts and that's what I've been planning on doing.  I plan to be in a sugar coma today and tomorrow and than ready to give it up on Wednesday
  • i do but i'm not sure yet.

  • I would do whichever one felt most like a sacrifice.  For me, that would be #1 or #2 since I actually enjoy working out.

I love working out too, but I haven't been able to run outside since October/November because of weather. I have an eliptical but I don't love it as much and find it difficult to find the time to do it during the day. Night time is chaotic here with two going to bed at the same time. I need to just suck it up and do it.

I'm thinking I'm going to do the working out and computer. :)

  • I'm not sure I would do #3 as I know some days if I don't veg out during nap time I'm not a great mom later in the day.  Could you take the kids out for walks to get a workout in or do it when you DH is home?
  • Also - in addition to sacrificing something, I like to try a new good habit to add to my every day life (beyond lent) - whether it be starting my own personal Bible study or prayer time, a daily random act of kindness, reading a Bible story to my kids daily...
