I'm 25, an army wife, expecting our 2nd baby in July. I have a BA in the arts and a SIGNIFICANT amount of college debt. I don't get enough jobs to help pay much of the loans and am curious about any of the military programs that help with student debt. I'm starting to think about joining the reserves or something in any branch that's low key and comfortable for a mom. Does anyone have any advice for where I might be interested in looking further? Are any of you enlisted moms? Thank you!!!
Re: Hi there! I'm in need of advice!
If you are looking for something low key to pay for your education loans the military is not for you.
Try getting a second job or really look into your budget.
This is what I would think too. Even in the reserves there is a strong possibility of deployment. And there's not much "low key" about being a dual military family. You'll have to deal with all the hassles of trying to get co-located with your DH when you're up for new orders and all sorts of things. I recommend going to your relief agency (don't know what it is for the Army. For Navy it is the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society) and getting some budget guidance to help you and your husband live within your means and pay your bills. Also, even a part time job can help bring in some extra cash.
There isn't anything "low key" in the military the PP gave you some good advice, look into getting a second job or find out what resources the Army has as far as budgeting classes and things like that.
I have seen the Takako one... they had it on sale at Jakkepoes Pancake house. I'll have to look at it the next time I go there.
