Tristen has this weird rash that comes and goes in different places, along with a really runny nose and slight cough. I first noticed the rash on Friday, the area is red, and inside the red area it has fleshy white bumps/welts. They are mostly small bumps and the red areas can be a bit bigger. I should have taken a picture. I already called the nurse line, and she told me to watch it, continue to put hydrocordisone on it. If it's still there in a week to bring him in. But I just feel uneasy about it since I've never seen this type of rash on him before. He does have eczema (or dermatitis), and is very sensitive to anything that is in contact with his skin. I Just assumed it was because I got different laundry detergent that WASN'T free and clear. But I changed that almost a month ago. So went out and bought free and clear, re washed all of his clothing, towels, sheets and blankets in that. Usually when he gets a reaction it's more like a heat rash with small red bumps around the neck and chest. These show up everywhere, I will put the anti itch cream on the spot, it will go away in less than an hour and then reappear some place else. His runny nose didn't start until yesterday, and his cough started tonight, but I am guessing it's from all the crap coming out his nose.
Any ideas?
TIA!
Update: Tristen woke up with nothing on him, it might change through the day but he had a few on his body at bed time. He still has cough and runny nose though. Thanks for all of your advice!
Re: Rash question. (update)
Are they hives? Hives can be caused by a contact allergin, food, or sometimes by stress. They come on suddenly, and then disappear as fast as they came. I hope it's nothing. Get well soon, T!!
Here's a picture (both DH and I get them from time-to-time. I had them so bad in high school that they closed my airway. That was stress though.):

See, I thought they were hives, but they don't look anything like that picture. It's literally a red area, with fleshy white colored bumps or welts...then I will put the cream on it, and it will go away. It almost looks like bug bites but we have NO bugs in our house, and I don't have any bumps. I am pretty sure it's related to either his sickness (Viral) or contact to the clothing and what not washed in the other detergent.

I looked at a lot of the photos on google, I think what throws me off is the ones of BIG welts or large patches like someone had a severe reaction to something. The hives I've had (from allergic reaction to an antibiotic) were more like a heat rash. They aren't white bumps really, they are flesh colored but because his skin is red all around the bumps they look white, like a bite. The only thing different he's had contact with is the detergent, and I have been giving him his gummy vitamins more often. I stopped giving those and re washed everything.
Thanks ladies.
it looks like this, but more red around the bumps. And they are in smaller patches in less places. Very random.
Sounds like Hives to me... Holden gets them on occassion and they look like this
I still am not quite sure what causes them, but they always go away on their own with no meds or creams and dont really seem to bug him.
ETA: I took too long to hit post, so now my reply doesnt help... =P
