DH and I want to name #2 Sophia Danielle if we have a girl. I don't know any Sophias irl, but it is in the top 3 in our area. My question is... are our second choices worth more thought or is Sophia our best bet? (DD is Emilia)
Penelope, Alexandra, and Georgia.
Also, is it too much of a stretch to call her Sophie Danielle, no hyphen or anything just call her both names?
TIA
Re: Why is this name SO popular?
Sophia's pretty, but she'd definitely be Sophia L. or Sophia G. or whatever all through school. If you're cool with that, fine. Personally, I'd go with Georgia - just as pretty as Sophia but more unique.
I dislike the double name thing in most cases. We have an acquaintance who INSISTS her daughter be referred to by her first and middle (Sarah Grace), and she's frequently mocked for this - it's just annoying.
(I mean the mom is mocked. Not the kid.)

I love sophia, but it is very popular. If that bothers you i would go with something else.
my 2nd choice would be georgia
We only know 2 other Sophias, and they are both a few years older than DD. Must be a regional thing, because it's definitely not super popular in my area. Obviously, I love Sophia best but I also really like Alexandra.
As for the double name, I think it's pretty but could be a mouthful and people will probably shorten it to just Sophie if you don't insist on Sophie Danielle.
Keep in mind that "really popular" in the case of Sophia translates to less than 1 in 100 baby girls each year for the past couple of years. There will probably be a few in her elementary school. Will they all be in her class, every year of school? Most likely not.
I don't think popularity alone should prevent you from giving your daughter a name you really love.
On a side note, Emilia is my #1 choice for a girl
I like that you want to call her Sophie Danielle, but Georgia is my favorite name on your list.

This. I love Georgia!
Because it's beautiful! That said, despite it's popularity, I don't think I've seen or heard that name at DD's daycare, and they have to have around 100 kids 5 and under.
I like all of your choices, actually. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.
