Runner + Mommy of 2+, Stroller Question

So I'm looking to get a double side by side stroller for long walks and for running if possible. I was wondering if any of you use the Baby Jogger Summit, Mountain Buggy or (even though it's probably a stretch - the Bumbleride Indie for jogging/running?) We live in the city and space is limited and although I have a single (front set wheel, which has been great for running) I am really looking to see if it's possible to run with a stroller with turnable wheels as that works much better in the city in general.  Or maybe you have a better suggestion? :)

Re: Runner + Mommy of 2+, Stroller Question

  • Disclaimer:  I am not a runner nor do I have an outside baby.

My neighbor up the street is a personal trainer and avid runner.  She has two kids and I see her running using a BOB Revolution Dualie all the time.  Is there a specialty store near you that you could ask?  The specialty stroller store in my town was incredibly helpful in picking which stroller(s) would be best for my area and activities.

  • I only have one baby, but I did Strollerfit for 18 mos with my first kiddo. Every person that was an avaid runner with two kids (we ran in class too) had a BOB with a fixed wheel. People that were runners/walkers had the Double BOB Revolution and also the Double Baby Jogger City Elite. I'm more of a runner/walker and I've been looking for a used Double Baby Jogger City Elite for myself. GL! :)

  • Oh and also, I wanted to say that I have two friends that had the single Bumbleride and both said if you're just a walker it's great, but if you run it's not the best. Both of these girls live near downtown Cincinnati.

Awesome info! I figured that would be the case but those Bumbleride strollers are so darn cute.

  • BOB all the way! I am actually looking into getting a BOB triple :)

  • Another vote for BOB - I have a single Ironman now and it's great, looking into buying the double when this babe is here.

I really like the look of the Ironman, and if I could buy the stroller for only running with it I would, but I'm really needing swivel front wheels for the city:/ The BOB's with swivel front wheels are they still good for running?

Btw- you have some really beautiful maternity pics.

  • I'm in the same boat, trying to decide between the BOB duallie revolution and the Phil&Teds Dash with the doubles attachment. I think it's going to come down to which I like most at the store and that Ada is the happiest in.

Ive been looking at the BOB Revolution  SE duaille, from what Ive read the front wheel locks for running and unlocks to swivel.

  • I'm a runner and just bought the BOB Rev. Duallie.  The difference between the Revolution Duallie and the Sport Utility is the Revolution has the option to lock or unlock the wheels while the Sport Utility only locks, making it not ideal for casual walking and maneuvering through stores.  I'm not sure about the Iron Man though.
  • I have a BOB revolution duallie and love it for long walks and runs. The front wheel locks for running or swivels for general use. It is so easy to push it's almost like it pushes itself, which is nice when jogging with 60lbs of kid in it! I have two complaints about the stroller and they are 1) The height of the canopy seems very low to me. My son's head hits the top and has since he was about 2 years old. It's better if the canopy is open but he definitely can't ride in it with the canopy pushed back. He still fits great in our city micro so I think it is just a problem with the stroller, not his height. 2) The stroller is great for what it's intended for - running and outdoor use - but it is very big and heavy. In my opinion it can't be an all purpose errand running stroller because it is sometimes tight in doorways and aisles.

  • I've only used the single to run with, but taken the double for walks around the mall and the Joovy Zoom is a really great jogger. I believe the Zoom comes with a fixed or turnable wheel, there are two different models you can choose from. They also have a thing called the Caboose (it is a stroller, jogger, and bike trailer), that it awesome. When we have #3 we are getting a double Caboose. I don't know about the ones you mentioned, but I have really enjoyed my Joovy.

How old/ tall is your son? I have a 18 month old that is in the 90% for height and I would like for her to be able to fit in the stroller. She will be 22 months by the time the baby is arrived.

  • I just bought the bumble ride and love it! It turns on a dime and folds up so nice. :)
