Pregnant after IF

Off to a rough start.....

Anyone else have a rough start to their pregnancy?

I had two embies transferred about 16 days. I will be about 5 weeks on Tuesday. RE is concerned that the pregnancy might be ectopic. I have been having spotting on and off for about a week. A little more heavy at the beginning of the week (around the time of when my period would have been due). I had cramping for one day about a week ago but that has completely subsided. Has anyone had this? My theory is that it might be twins. I have heard that spotting is more prevelant with twins?

I have an appointment with the RE tomorrow to discuss our options if the pregnancy is ectopic. I am so anxious to see what my beta is. When I went on Friday it was at 149.6.

Sigh. Isn't it supposed to be easier after you get pregnant? LOL.

  • I'm sorry, that does sound rough.  I don't have any experience with any of this, but hope you get good news and it's not ectopic.  Best wishes to you.

  • Well, I had spotting/bleeding all through my first trimester...and I'm pregnant with one little one. Doctors never found a cause for my bleeding, and baby was (and still is) always doing great. I keep being told "some women just bleed"....it sucks, but I guess it happens!

  • Ugh, that sounds like it would be so scary!  I'm hoping that the rest of the pregnancy sails by smoothly!!!

I had a rough start with OHSS but am feeling a lot better now and hoping that I too am going to have an easier time of it!!

  • I had bleeding in my first tri too and am pg with a healthy singleton. I've never heard the theory that bleeding is more common with twins, however it is widely believed that bleeding is more common with IVF. GL to you!

  • I'm sorry to hear this -- let's hope for good news at your next appointment!!

As for the twins, cramps, and spotting -- I cramped very early on (before our first beta test) but I haven't had any spotting.  I'm 18+ weeks now.

    I'm thinking of you...
