so curious as to what my fellow mommas think and/or have experienced ...
DS is 8 m/o and born via c-section (he was breech). DH and i would like for him to have a playmate, and i'm really really hoping for a natural delivery if we are ever blessed with subsequent children.
i've done A LOT of researching on vbac and have read many different things. what do you ladies feel my chances are of vbacing? what are your experiences? should we wait 9 months, a year, two years, etc? one of our obstacles is that our local hospital doesnt vbac, so we are going to have deliver in a bigger hospital in the city, but that's no problem with us. also, will have to find new dr because the one who saw me thru DS does not really agree with vbacing, again no big deal.
all information appreciated. thank you!
Re: what are my chances?
Mothers who had a c/s for breech position have among the highest chances of having a VBAC. Most studies put it at 80% or higher. Keep in mind that the overall c/s rate in the US is about 33% anyway, so your odds are very good.
Sometimes it can be harder to find a doctor or midwife to do VBAC if you have closely spaced pregnancies. There are certainly people that have successful VBACs with close pregnancies but I wanted to make sure my births would be at least 18-24 months apart just to have one less potential strike against me in terms of finding someone to support my VBAC.
