Yes, unfortunately our birthmom is going to jail for violating probation, so it only cost us $3,000 for her expenses and they claim we might get some back if she doesn't use it all. Her medical care is covered by Medicaid.
The final cost will eventually be a little higher than the above price, because we still have to pay finalization costs (no idea how much that will be) and follow up homestudy fees (about $300 each time for 3 visits).
I hope this experience confirms her decision that she is doing the right thing for the baby.

Very Sweet and very lucky. Our adoption cost almost twice that much! We really don't know how the money was divided up. We just paid a lump sum.
