gd and ultrasound to determine size

i had my ultrasound at 18 weeks and then at 24 weeks ( for the heart)

I was wondering if anyone is getting more ultrasounds. I am at 35 weeks and with my last baby , i had complications so i had ultrasounds all the time. With the measuring tape, i am  measuring about a week ahead and i have gestational diabetes this time. How will we really be able to tell the size of the baby if i don't have another ultrasound. My last baby was 9 pounds 2 ounces.

Is it normal to get a last ultrasound?

My doc was saying he may want to induce at 38-39 weeks if the baby is getting too big.

Re: gd and ultrasound to determine size

  • I am getting an U/S to determine size at 36w.....but I'm not sure if that's because of the GD or because we are deciding between VBAC or repeat C/S.  Or both!

  • I will be getting ultrasounds every week, started at 33 weeks.
  • I started getting BPP's which included u/s every week at 36 weeks. Its because of this that they in duced me at 38 weeks with dd becuase of  IUGR, something that happened becuase of GD where the placenta was breaking down and dd wasn't growing anymore or getting enough nutrients. She was just over 6lbs at birth.

  • I had fluid checks twice a week after week 32, and monthly ultrasounds to check size from 24 weeks on.  I also had non stress test twice a week from 32 weeks on. I had GD also.
  • I've had six so far (25w), but because they've been watching very carefully.  Otherwise, I think I would only have three ultrasounds total, one in each trimester.
