So the genetic counselor called with my results of the NT scan and bloodwork. 1:99 for Downs so we'll continue with our planned amnio on 3/21. I had really hoped to avoid it but based on age alone it was 1:87 and age factors into it. Oh well. I try not to worry about it too much, but I was concerned about the amnio last time too. The procedure was a non-event but the miscarriage risk is always on my mind...

Re: Results after NT scan and bloodwork
Love your attitude!! I needed to hear a calm reaction. :-) I am 1 in 150 going in on Monday morning for my Amnio. It has been a week of torture thinking through all the scenarios. Finally Amnio on Monday - then waiting for results. It has been hard to handle.
My best to you and your little one!
Have a great weekend!

This! Great attitude! Stay Positive!
Good luck.
We were 1:115 after our NT & blood test and decided against amnio. Becasue of my age I started at 1:30 and we figures since it when up that much we may be OK. Where I live you get a positive for downs if you are under 1:250.
My advice is try not to worry about it. Several of my freinds had the amnio and everything was fine and they were a lot younger than I was.
Just try and relax.. do something that calms you for the rest of the day.
The anxiety that I had over the amnio was a waste of energy and really, I probably wouldn't have had any of it had I ignored the comments from all the anti amnio folks.
If you like to read, watch movies etc, find something that will get your mind off of the procedure, go home, kick back and enjoy a day off work resting.
Best of luck on your results!
We had a 1:12 chance for Downs after our NT scan. We went to a perinatologist with the full intentions of doing an amnio. After he did a very thorough US measuring many different things, he felt very sure that our baby did not have downs as we would have seen measurements off (finger and toe length, no nasal bone, among other things). We decided to not do the amnio because of the US results. Not sure if this is an option for you to do the US first to see what that shows.
Good luck with everything and the odds are greatly in your favor!!
We already had an US when we did the NT scan. The baby was not cooperating at all so it was really hard to even get the NT measurement. They did some other measurements too and told us the NT measurement was 'normal' but based on my age (40) and the blood test it came back to 1:100. I had an amnio with our DD too where the odds were 1:250 for Downs (2 years younger then) and the amnio itself was no problem. I am not even stressed about Downs but more nervous about the amnio risk. I had hoped to avoid the amnio but for us, it doesn't make sense to skip it now with this risk.
Good luck, praying all goes well! We go for our 12 week US/NT/Labs this Thursday.
Good luck with the amnio. I am keeping my fingers crossed. As everybody said already, the odds are on your side.
