We have been PT with DD for 3 weeks now and she has been doing great...until 3 days ago. She originally initiated the PT so I went with it and we kinda never looked back. She literally has only had a hand full of accidents leading up to three days ago.
Now, she's getting so distracted by toys and what not that she doesn't want to stop what she's doing and has accidents. Two days ago I left her at home with DH so I could get some errands done kid-free and she had accidents every time she went to the bathroom. Yesterday she needed to poop so bad and didn't want to (either in the toilet or diaper) that she wouldn't even sit down to pee so she had accidents every time again. Then today she went with my inlaws and would tell them that she needed to go potty but didn't want to use the public/big potties. Then she was so wound up when she got home she didn't want to sit on the potty and had another accident while running around the house. I have no idea where this is coming from!
I'm doing my best to stay upbeat and positive but I'm just not sure what to do. I'm thinking I may need to stay at home with her for a few days in a row like I did in the beginning and let her run bare bottom and tell me...kinda start over?
Re: 3 weeks success and now regressing
we did really well for a few weeks of me just telling ds "tell me when you need to go potty, ok?" then he started having tons of accidents. i was ready to quit and wait a few months and try again later. dh convinced me to just try something else and not quit (thank god).
we had a huge conversation about how i had heard that at preschool (ds is obsessed with going to school) they all go every hour. so, since then i just tell him once an hour that it's time to work on our school skills like the preschool kids do, and he gets up and goes to the bathroom with no fuss. we haven't had an accident in weeks. i know that it's supposed to be better if they initiate it, but i couldn't deal with more accidents and i know that he will just internalize going to the potty anyway if we do it this way for months and months.
