Baby size... how big were you?

So I've recently been starting to worry about how big this little girl is going to be when she comes out. I was 10 pounds 10 oz when I was born (little bro was also over 10 pounds- Go mom!) and I'm terrified I'm going to have a huge baby! DH was only 7 pounds but his dad was well over 10 pounds too.

I know there is really nothing I can do about it but I was just wondering how big you ladies were when you were born and if any of you are worried about baby's size.

I was almost 9 pounds when I was born, and my first son was 9 lbs. 5 oz. He was a little chunky boy, had fat rolls on him and everything. I did have a very difficult time having him, and I think most of that was due to his size. My doctor had warned me in the weeks before he was born to slow down on gaining weight or else I would have a big baby, I should have listened to him! I was much more careful with my next pregnancies and had a smaller baby each time. I think that as long as you're eating healthy already there isn't much more you can do. Good luck!

I was 8lbs 13oz. My brother's girlfriend who is due next month told me her OB told her that the baby usually follows the mothers birth weight. BUT, I don't think I believe this becuase my mom had 4 kids and none of us weighed the same at birth, nor did any of us weigh the same as she did when she was born, so I'm not sure how that could be true?? Either way, I'm not worried about having a big baby. My FI was 9 lbs and some odd oz, so we'll see how much this little man weighs in a few months! Big Smile

i was 7lbs14oz and DH was 7lbs13oz. baby #1 was 7lbs4oz at 38 weeks...hoping this one isn't any bigger. that was enough for me!

I was 6.4 I think?

DH was in the 8ish range.

Our baby is in the 43rd percentile right now. Dr said that is a great size.

I was a premie, so I think about 7lbs, but my hubby was a bit bigger... he thinks he remembers 9-10lbs. We are having a boy, and he has a very large head and is about 6'4''. I am a little apprehensive about having his son!! Haha

I was... almost 3 weeks which I know can account for some of the weight but I also read somewhere that babies slow down in growth at the very end of gestation so who knows.

I think I was around 7 lbs. My brother was around 8. I'm not too concerned about size. Right now, my biggest fear is failing the second one hour glucose test.

On a side note, my grandmother is a twin. She and her brother were over 9 lbs. each at birth.

I was 8lbs 5oz at birth. My mom was 115lbs when she gave birth to me!

At the NT scan at 20 weeks, the doctor told me he thinks the baby would be about 8lbs by my EDD which is "a lot of baby" for me because I'm also small like my mom. Yikes!

I was 7 punds 15 ounces but i was also 3 weeks early and my husband was 4 pounds 4 ounces and he was a twin so i also have no idea if my baby will be big. At 25 weeks 3 days she was 2 pounds 1 ounce whihc they said was normal.

So far in the thread, I get the itty-bitty-baby award. I was 3lbs 4oz. Start of labor to birth was less than 30 minutes. Apparently I REALLY wanted out. I was 6 weeks early.

My sister and I were 7#7oz and 7#14oz. DH was also 7#something. However, I am 5'10", DH is 6'6", and we both have big heads, so I'm still worried about having a big baby!

DH thinks he was about 8lbs

I was 7lbs 15oz, big bro was 7lbs 13oz, one sister was 6lbs and the other sister was 9lbs 8oz.

Weight I'm not so worried about, but Daegan's head is measuring a few days ahead of the rest of him, so he's likely going to have a huge noggin like his daddy.

My mom, sister and I were all 6lbs 2oz. DH was about 7 and half lbs. I hope that the baby takes after us and is not too big.

my brother was 10 lbs 10 oz and he came a week early. i came a few days early and weighed 8 lbs 5 oz.

however, my mom tells me that both she and her sister was huge babies in the 10 lb range....so i really hope it doesn't run in the family!!

hubby weighed in the 7 lbs range, but don't know exact amount.

I myself was only 3lbs 11oz, (6 weeks early premie) however on both family sides all the babies came in around 7-9lbs and were generally on time. I am hoping for a small baby but we will see after the growth spurt he has had this week I think he is going to be a big baby.

DD1 was 6 weeks early at 5.10 so if she was later YIKES I am afraid she would of been big!

I was 7lb 7oz. My DD was 7lb 15oz. I'm really hoping that this baby will be less than 8 as well, but I have a feeling he's going to be a big boy.

I was about 6 1/2 lbs--born @39 weeks. My husband was around 7. I am worried about the opposite problem of the OP--our baby was only measuring in the 5th percentile at our anatomy scan, so we're having a growth scan at 28 weeks. Hoping for a good sized growing baby this time!

I was 8lb 8oz and 3 weeks late, H was in the high 7s. Last u/s, LO was in the 98th percentile- I hope he had just hit a growth spurt or something, or he's gonna be awful big

I was around 7lbs 2oz, at my last doctor appointment she said " he will be a decent size" I asked what that meant and she said "8-9lbs" (insert panic here!) DH was a huge baby and his mom had to have a c-section.

I was 11lb, 15oz. Keep in mind that when we were born, they weren't automatically testing every mom for gestational diabetes. Even though my mom's first two were average size, I came out HUGE. They told her after the fact that she must have had GD.

My daughter was 7lb 1oz at birth.

I weighed 5lb 15oz full term and my daughter weighed 5lb 15oz a week early. I was surprised she was that small. I am praying for another small baby because I can't imagine pushing out anything bigger lol!!

Both DH and I were ~5lb babies. We were both early so I'm not counting on a small baby, really I have no clue how big he'll be, I should ask my dr what he thinks at my next appt. I'm not worried about our LO being too big unless I have GD because then it's kinda out of your hands. (My GD test is next week).

My dad comes from a family of really big/tall people and they have really large babies. My mom and her siblings were all tiny (and they still are as adults, LOL). My dad's like 6'4" and my mom's about 5'0".

3 of my mom's 5 kids were smaller (6-7 pound-ish). The other 2 - My oldest brother and I - were HUGE. I was right on time and my brother was a week early. We were both over 10 pounds, which is in line with the babies that my paternal grandmother had. I have an aunt who weighed over 11 lbs when she was born.

The funny thing is that I'm a pretty small person today. I'm am 5'6 and was 120 pounds before fertility treatments and this pregnancy (I'm 36). People are shocked when they find out I weighed over 10 pounds at birth.

My mom got through it and she's a pee-wee. So I think I'll be just fine. I hope you are too!

I was 5 lbs 7 oz but I was born at 36 weeks, my DH was 8 lbs 15 oz at 40ish weeks....so we could go either way---it'll all be quite a surprise.

I was born at 32 weeks b/c my mom's water broke and I was 3lbs 3oz. ..interestingly my water broke with my daughter at 34 weeks and she was 5lbs 12oz.

I was about 4 lbs but born about 1.5 months early. DH was full term and about 9 lbs. DS was 7 lbs 5 oz at around 38 weeks. I was worried about DS's size due to GD. I was pretty sure he'd be smaller than a 9 pounder. Oh and DH is 6'5 and I'm 5'10, not small.
