Re: Free tomato seeds from Red Robin

  • Cool idea.  For anyone who takes advantage of this, know that tomatoes are very hard to start from seed, especially if you want actual tomatoes from the plant (so go for it, but don't get your hopes *too* high).

If my kiddo inherited any of my gardening skills, she'll get about 3 leaves and then it'll shrivel up and die.  Sad

If you want guaranteed success, try beans, corn, sunflower or pumpkin.  The seeds are big and easy for little hands to handle, grow big flowers and sprout and grow quickly.  Regardless, good luck :)

THANKS!!!  I'd love to do a little garden box with M, thanks for the tips!  And, I hate tomatoes anyways!  :)~

  • You're welcome!  I meant they grow big *leaves*.  Sweet peas grow pretty flowers, though.  If you grow pumpkins, M might get a kick out of the flowers, which are big and bright, and edible (though they aren't terribly delectable... think mild spinach in flavor and texture).

  • Radishes are really fun too. They sprout quickly and some Spring varieties only take a month or so start to finish.
