Also, I love Avery but my husband seems to say it reminds him of a sissy boy. ( I know, nice) More girl or more boy???
In Charlotte's Web, Fern's mean older brother was named Avery. So I have NO idea how it became popular or why people like it. It's as if Lucius or Goyle suddenly became popular girl's names (from HP).
Definitely Olivia. and I'm not a fan of unisex names and I think Avery is becoming one of those more and more. Actually, the only "Avery's" I know are girls (thought I think of it as a boys name)

I like Olivia much more than Alivia. It just doesn't feel right.
The trend of Avery for girls lately seems to gain popluarity every single day. You might end up with it being the Jessica or Melissa of yesteryear, and I don't know if you ready want your kid to be refered to as Avery S. or so on. I have the same thought for Isabella for obvious reasons.
But I love Leighton, it has a bunch of great girly nicknames to it, and it seems to add character, but that's just me.
You may be gone but you will always be in my heart

I would spell it Olivia ? I like correct, traditional spellings. Not a fan of "modern" youneek spellings.
Avery is a boy's name, that just happens to be a very trendy for girls right now. I prefer it for a boy and do not see the fascination with using it for a girl at all. Same goes for Leighton.

Alivia is not good. I can just hear her now, "No, it's pronounced Olivia but spelled with an A. A-L-I-V-I-A..." You're setting her up for an entire life of re-spelling her name. Avery is much better than Leighton.
Re: Olivia or Alivia
Olivia, please.
And to me, Avery is a boy's name. That I can no longer use because it is gaining rapid popularity as a girl's name.

Definitely Olivia.
I don't care for Avery.
Olivia, definitely.
I think Avery is now firmly unisex, but I don't like it.
Olivia, not Alivia.
I don't like Avery or Leighton very much. Avery is pretty unisex to me at this point, but I still don't love it for a girl.
I just don't think Leighton sounds pretty to my ears.
I like Olive, Alice, Laurel.
I like Olivia much more than Alivia. It just doesn't feel right.

I know that with "Alivia" you are going for a more phonetic spelling of "Olivia," but when I see it I want to say "Alive-ee-ah" with a long /i/ sound.
I say if you're going to use a classic name, use the classic spelling.
I love Alivia and Avery is my DD. Use what you love.

Olivia!! "Alivia" is too kr8tve for my liking.
Avery is a boy's name, in my opinion. It's one of those names that has become more common for girls recently, though. I prefer it for a boy.
The only Leighton I know is a guy, so I don't think of it as a girls' name at all.
