I have a sleeping baby on me so I'm stuck at the computer. Darn.

Where is a good place to look for non-bridesmaid looking bridesmaid dresses that aren't over $200?

My sister is geting married in July in TX. She's asked me to read something. She's also having her best friend have some part of the ceremony. I don't even know where to look. So far I've seen j crew. Her colors are light purple and silver. It's been a long time since I've had anything to do with a wedding ceremony.

I always check Macy's and Nordstrom for that category of dress. I've found Maggy London to have good choices right around $100. You can see some on the Nordstrom site.

Target actually has some cute bridesmaid-worthy dresses online.

Also, if you find any dresses at a bridal shop that seem too expensive, hunt for the Pearl's Place website. They sell the same dresses for a major discount - got bm dresses for multiple weddings there with great service.

I'd try JC Penney. Usually good prices, pretty good selection of dresses. Man, Texas in JULY??? Definitely look for summery and lightweight!

My bridesmaids got their dresses at Ann Taylor. Simple, some look less like bridesmaid dresses than others. It looks like their prices are more than I remember ($200-250) but you get 25% off for buying two, 40% off for buying three or more on some styles.

Are you a bridesmaid or just doing a reading? I wouldn't think you'd need a bridesmaid dress if you're just doing a reading. I would just wear a dress you would wear to a wedding. Maybe make sure your dress color won't clash with her colors or pictures.

I love Maggy London dresses! My bridesmaid dresses were Maggy London from Nordstrom. They were about $120 I believe. Here is a pic since I cant linky. This dress and others similar come in a ton of styles! Check online!

Thanks ladies. I knew I could count on you for some shopping ideas. The situation is confusing in that she wants me to do bridesmaid things but not call myself a bridesmaid. And not wear a matching dress with her bestfriend. I like a lot of the things I saw from your suggestions.
