Back Pain Already??

I'm just ending my 12th week and I've been dealing with severe back pain for about 4 weeks now- between my sciatica anf my hips i dont know which to say hurts worse.... I thought these pains dont come till later in the pregnancy???  I've been seeing a chiropractor but the overall pain is still there!!!  I was always told I had childbearing hips...WHY DOESN'T THAT HELP?? HAHA

any tips?

Re: Back Pain Already??

  • Someone asked about back pain earlier. Here's what I do:

    1. Use a body pillow (I have the snoogle).

    2. Do stretches at least twice a day (there's lots of youtube videos that give good pregnancy stretches and good lower back stretches.)

    3. Be aware of your posture and correct it when you notice.

    4. Try not to be in one position for too long (alternate sitting and standing).

    Hope those help!

  • I've had some back pain and have used a heating pad and it's helped. Other than that I would say Tylenol and stretching and deleting some of those 50,000 duplicate posts.

    Good luck!

  • I had severe pain around the same time when pregnant with DS.  I thought it was sciatica, but that usually doesn't occur until 3rd Tri.  My doctor sent me to see a physical therapist who informed me that I have one leg longer than the other.  It never bothered me because the difference is quite small, but because of the relaxin during pregnancy, everything gets "loose," and that is what caused my pain.  I was in physical therapy for a few weeks to try to help the pain, but eventually it went away on its own later in the pregnancy.  You might want to ask your doctor about it in case it's something more than just a sore back.  GL!

  • You've already been given some great advice, just one other thought.

I get very loose early on ... so deal with hip pain my entire pregnancy.  Massage Therapy, while expensive, totally makes the difference for me between being able to walk and function and not ... I would highly recommend it!

  • First off my apologies for the duplicate postings- no clue how that happened I spoke with the tech support of the bump and they said it could have been a glitch on their part when I was posting!!  yet I still had to go through and delete each one myself!!!  AHHH

I do have a snoogle- it seems to work sometimes, but I guess i was more concerned with the pain so early on....I've been stretching too and the heating pad does help!

  • I had been dealing with pain  in my siatica before getting preganant, but not too badly and it seemed as though the problem was going away.

But now it is back and hurts mostly when walking. (I am going to try some of the tips you got!)

     Good luck!
