I feel stupid for asking this but...

If you are dilated and effaced and whatnot, does that mean you have lost your mucous plug? I feel so silly for not knowing this answer. Good thing you all can't see my completely red face right now

    No, I don't think it does bc I never lost my mp with DS and went into labor.

    Nope...I'm at 3cm and 90% effaced and haven't lost my mp.

    I don't think so. I had my first internal yesterday and my OB told me I was 2cm and 50% effaced and didn't lose my MP until last night (and there was no question that's what it was).

    A very good question :) I asked my OB the same thing. She said that since it's continuously regenerating until birth - just because you are dilating doesn't mean you have lost it or will lose it. She also said it's tenaciously sticky and even if you do lose it, it can stay stuck up there.
