I think the most irritating part of this story to me is that they are glorifying it and making it seem like she did the right thing. I don't think she did the right thing at all. She shouldn't have left her child.
I know people birth naturally all the time and can be released from medical care the next day with follow up by nurses and Dr visits within the 24-48 hour time frame, but why push yourself so hard, your body just went through a traumatic experience. Rest! Take care of yourself and your child!
i must be crazy...am i the only one who thinks this is kinda cool? not as much the fact that she went to coach her basketball team, but i guess i just look at this and think how awesome it is that she felt good enough to do that. i watch that and hope that i am blessed enough to feel like that so soon after giving birth.
I am convinced that coffee is God's gift to mothers.

At least I'm not first to post the unpopular opinion today. I think it's kinda cool too. It reminds me of a clip from Born in America where a doctor was helping to deliver a baby in a tribal setting somewhere and the mother almost immediately went back to work in her garden.
I'm a basketball coach and we just lost in district playoffs so I can understand how lucky she felt that the timing allowed her to be there for her team. I'm not sure what I would have done as it would have been really hard to leave my baby in the hospital......except my husband would have been with it so maybe I would have done the same thing?? Who knows, but I can understand why she did it for sure.

I'm with both of you. Its her third. She knows the deal. I really don't see anything wrong leaving her baby in the hospital for a few hours. Its not like it was 10 minutes after delivery. She was able to uphold her responsibilities as a mom and a coach. Its wasn't just some regular season game, I can understand why she would want to be there. I say good for her.

I don't particularly see anything wrong with this either, especially since her and baby seem to be healthy. I don't like the way they glorified her for it, as if a woman who made a different choice would be lesser, or not as tough.
For the record, I have every intention of leaving the hospital to go to my college graduation ceremony, given the opportunity and capability, if it comes to that. The ceremony is on my due date, so we'll see what happens. For me, graduation is something I've worked hard for and if I have a healthy baby, and I feel good, I will have my cake and eat it too.
EDIT: Just noticed the sock nipples - LOL!

Re: Birth story that will have you saying Wha(t)???
She's nuts.
Some women need to accept that life can go on without them.
