A late update: Brynn is Here!

This is only about a month late, but Brynn Elizabeth is here! She was born on 2/5/11 at 9:15 pm. She's doing great after a few bumps in the beginning. Below is my birth story.

At 34 w 4 days I was admited to B. North and diagnosed with gestational hypertention. The doctors told me to take it easy and were very confident that I would develop pre-e within a matter of time. On Friday the 4th (I was 37 weeks), I had some steady contractions from about 4AM until noon. Nothing was really constant but they were there. I called the dr just to let them know what was going on and they told me to head to B. North. DH and I were not to pleased because we didn't really want to spend the night at B. North just to be sent home. My contractions had completely stopped and I felt fine. I had been doing a couple 24 hour urine analysis and having BP checks a couple times a week since my hospital stay and DH and I just didn't want to sit around the hospital doing that when we could be doing that at home. So anyways we went in and low and behold they wanted to keep me for 24 hours to monitor my blood pressure and do a 24 hour urine catch. They did blood panel and my initial urine check came back with some levels that were high, but not high enough to confirm a pre-e diagnosis and warrent an induction.

So we were at B. North for the night and next day. At about noon on Saturday, the 5th, I had a couple super high blood pressures (think like 180/100) and at 1 the nurse came in to announce that we were going to be induced. That was enough for the doctor to give me the offical pre-e diagnosis. I was 37 weeks and 1 day.

Since I had been sitting at 2cm's and about 70% effaced for a couple weeks they started the pitocin at 2 and broke my water at 4. The nurse told me that I'd go about 1 cm an hour and have about 2 hours of pushing so we were expecting a little one around 2-3 AM. Boy were they wrong! After they broke my water things really started to pick up. I got my epi at 5:30, which took about 45 minutes to place. I was able to sleep a little after the epi and then it started to wear off. We paged the nurse and I got another dose for the epi and was able to push that wonderful button that I had forgotten about!

At 8 they checked me and I was 5cm. At 8:45 or so I felt a lot of pressure and paged the nurse. I was 10cms and ready to go! The nurse flew around and got everything ready and paged the doctor. I pushed for 20 minutes, 4 rounds of pushing and Brynn Elizabeth was here! The doctor came in just in time to catch the little one. And I ended up with only 1 stitch!

Brynn was born at 9:15 and weighed in at 6 pounds 0.6 oz and was 19 inches long. She took to bf like a champ once I started using the nipple shield.

Unfortunately my bp wasn't coming down like they wanted and I ended up on bp meds which they are trying to wean me off of right now.

Another rough patch was that Brynn was down to 5 lbs 5 oz and had a super high billirubin level which landed us at Children's Hospital when she was 4 days old. We only stayed the night and her levels went down like they wanted and she has since been gaining weight like she should.

But now we're getting into a routine and everyone is doing much better.

I'm going to attempt to attach a picture, so we'll see how this goes. Oh and does anyone know how to change my siggy?
