Ckmommy!!!

LOVE your FFFC! I too love reading them just for fun...hence my screen name. I know anything and everything about Nancy Drew! I have read every book of the original 56 at least a dozen times. I got my first one in 3rd grade. (Clue of the Broken Locket thank you very much) and after high school, I was still missing about a dozen or so, so I scoured antique shops until I found all the ones I was missing. So I do have all 56 of the originals!

there is a book that came out re entry about the many different Authors that wrote the books. Some have been revised etc as well. It is very interesting to read pre- revised books vs old books. There are mistakes in them. Example, Nancy meets Ned in book 6 but in an eRlier book, she knows him in book 4. Little things I think are fun to catch.

Anyways, I am a Nancy Drew fan too!!!

  • I have all of the originals too...but from when they WERE original...*sigh* (they're well read and certainly not collectable - and I'm not sure that they're ALL there still - they're just part of thousands of books that I've schlept around my entire life...)

  • Oh man, I am so glad I'm not the only one! I LOVE just cuddling up and re reading them, takes me back to my childhood. I also have noticed some discrepancies in the books like with Helen, one book she is engaged, next planning her wedding with her Aunt while Nancy solves the Bungalow mystery, then in Lilac Inn no mention, then she vanishes and Bess and George appear, then out of nowhere she is back and married, then in Clue in the Jewel Box, she is Helen Corning again instead of Archer! Lol. I am a nerd. I just love them. I have some originals that were my moms, then some we found at used stores, and now I am back to my mission of finding them all! Sorry no paragraphs, can't do them on my phone.

  • Lol. All of my "originals" are from the 80's. But the ones I had to collect are from the 30's and 40's! The inside covers are different and they have 25 chapters vs 20 from the 80's. I even have 2 that were my grandma's from her childhood! the outside all look alike, but the older ones are a lighter color yellow. I think I found the last one to complete my set in 1993. I PPH Nancy Drew! :)

  • EXACTLY! The Helen errors always make me laugh! You must have some old ones vs "new"ones too! My Clue in the Jewel Box is my oldest one!

I love how innocent the books are. Lol

  • I heart this entire thread!  I loved, loved Nancy Drew books growing up and have started a collection of them myself.

I do! My oldest are Clue in the Jewel Box (one of my favorites) and the Invisible Intruder. I love the look of the older ones, they are just classic!
