Infertility

Anyone dealt with 'tumor or growth thingy' on their dog?

Ugh, seriously, if it's not one thing it's certainly somethig else!!

My white dog, who I finally think is doing better with her UTI's, now has 3 random growths on her back.  I first noticed it last night and surprised I haven't noticed them sooner, the biggest one is just smaller than a penny, and the other two are smaller.  WTF is it?  I'm freaking out of course as I'm OOP for treatment's and going to the vet is always a fortune and what if something is wrong with her.Crying

The growths have the texture of a dog paw, and are greyish.

I'm taking her to the Vet tomorrow at 1:00 pm, in the meantime I'm a freak show!

FML!

  • Oh gawd, I have no idea... I better google what that would look like.  I guess anything is possible.  Sh!t, how the hell would she get ticks!?!?

Edited to add:  Eeeek!! These growths don't look like the imgages I saw on Google, it appears more like skin, but I guess anythign is possible.

  • My family has had two dogs that have had something similar on their backs. They turned out to be fluid filled cysts (harmless). I would have the vet look at it just to be sure but it sounds just like what our dogs had. GL!

Thanks, that helps to ease my mind!

  • My family dogs had something like this as they got older, and they turned out to be harmless fatty tumors. My dog has one now too, and if he scrapes it on something it will bleed a little, but other than that he is fine.

  • It could be black skin disease, which looks gross but doesn't impact the dog's health.  My oldest has this on her paws, and she is totally fine.  Hugs to the puppy, and to you!

My dog had a fatty tumor that started out really small like that.  It hit a growth spurt and grew to the size of a softball in a week.  At which point we had to have it removed because it was causing her problems walking (it was on her hip).  The vet said it was benign and if it is in a location that had bothered her, he would have left it.

I hope you find out everything is fine.

  • Yes.  2 years ago I found a lump on my dog.  They will try to put a syringe into the lumps and see if they can get liquid out of it.  Then they might schedule surgery to remove them, then they will test them for cancer.  My dog had a tumor that turned out to be cancerous, but they removed it and she is fine and she did not have a recurrence or anything.  Try not to worry because it's probably nothing.

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

  • My dog growing up had them.  The vet would not do surgery because of his age.  He kept getting them caught on things because they got pretty big.  Dad ended up banding them after he almost bled to death.  They needed up falling off.  He did continue to get them and after that when they got any size we just banded them and he went on to have another good 5 years.
