Co-worker pg after tubal

Yikes.  So my co-worker gave birth to her 3rd son in July.  She had her tubes tied with her c-section and just found out that she is pregnant!  She is super depressed about it because she obviously had no intention of having any more children.  She already works full time at our hospital and part time at another which means she works 5 12 hour shifts a week!  Her husband stays home with the kids.  It's sad because she told another co-worker that her kids have told her they think she's the lazy one because she never does anything around the house and she's always sleeping when she's home.  They're too young to understand that she's out working her a$$ off to support the family.  I feel so bad for her.  Here she went and did what she thought was the responsible thing by getting her tubes tied and it failed.  Sad

  • Wow, crazy! I'm sure her kids will appreciate her hard work more when they're older, but it's sad that she has to be away from them so much. I'm sure she's physically and emotionally exhausted.

  • Wow, can't believe she got pg again after that and it's #4 on the way! It must be rough with the comments that the kids are making but they don't know any better at this age and they will understand when they're older...hope she hangs in there and knows that she's doing a great job supporting the fam!

  • wow that must be so tough for her...esp w/the kids' comments and her being super emotional from being PG :( my friend was so paranoid about having more that she had her tubes tied and her DH had a vasectomy! everything will work itself out in the long run but for now i know it's so hard for her to be going through all this.

I seriously wish I'd thought to ask my doctor to tie things up during my c-section, because this is my ideal plan. But since I don't fancy the idea of being cut open again, just a vasectomy it is.

I can relate to your poor co-worker - I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'd be pretty close to devastated if I got pregnant again - and the kids' comments certainly aren't helping. I hope things smooth out for her!

Have you heard of Essure?  I guess it's a permanent birth control procedure that is non-surgical.  My OB thinks it's great.  Worth checking out, maybe.....

I'd never heard of this, but I've checked out their site and am VERY interested! I've sent them an email to get the name of a doctor in my area (I'm guessing I may have to travel to Sydney because I've talked to my docs about permanent solutions before and none of them even mentioned it).

    Thanks so much!!
